I need all my children to go back to University or school.
The eldest has been off since May and although she has a job she is just here a lot.
All of them have boyfriends and friends and they all eat and drink so much. I’m never alone. I miss being alone in my house.
Sometimes there is no where to sit because of all the children and the boyfriends.

I’ve taken to driving the long way home from work - so I can be alone for a bit longer.
They’re all lovely, kind and considerate and I know I’m awful because obviously I decided to have them but why can’t they sometimes all go out at the same time?!

Sometimes I’ll be watching TV or reading a book and one will arrive for a chat or to catch up. Isn’t that lovely? They want to see how I am or ask me about something. But I don’t want to talk.

Also why can’t people now just have toast, cereal or a bloody sandwich? Someone is always making a yogurt bowl or overnight oats. They make complicated salads and one basic meal turns into a whole kitchen of chaos.
I might book a night in a hotel.

@manpretty our school does 4 weeks over the summer but it’s just been voted to move to 6 weeks. I have to say I’ve found 4 weeks to be too short for teenagers, it’s not a proper break to switch off. I always feel terribly sad for them they only get a month, it flies by. The change won’t benefit my eldest.

It’s like that here on and off, and I totally understand OP.

One thing that helps me is having an online shopping list that anyone can add to, but having the youngsters do all the actual food shopping. I don’t mind paying for it but I do loathe actually doing the shopping.

I am down to just one in the house (from four) and I love them but I do not miss them!

What sort of salads are we talking here?

I'm so glad you said that you don't miss them! the number of posters trying to make op feel guilty and telling her she'd be regretting it all one day it's absurd

There's been quite a few of us saying we don't miss them on this thread

@Americanstyle Maybe we are not all the same? I love my family but I love having my home to myself now they’ve flown. I don’t look back and think how wonderful it was to be eaten out of house and home by huge young almost adults and I don’t look back on the huge amounts of washing and drying either! There comes a time when it’s time to go and let you get on with your life and they with theirs. Thank goodness 😅
