Does anyone else have absolutely no hobbies or interests?

I find almost everything boring, bowling is boring and games are boring, work is boring and tv is boring.
I go and visit friends or family and I am bored.

It’s not a recent discovery, I have always been chronically bored, even on holidays.
I have tried various different activities to try and find something I enjoy but everything I do I am bored and just waiting for it to finish.
Don’t tell Dh but even sex is boring if it lasts too long.

I probably drink a bit too much but that’s only out of boredom.

Anyone else just bored all the time? I think I am so inside my head that I have no interest in the outside world, even when people talk to me I wish they wouldn’t because I’m happy daydreaming.

What you're describing sounds like depression. Can you see your gp and explain. Not feeling john's feeling disengaged are classic symptoms.

Yes I do, I’m not sure what causes it though because I can’t remember ever being any different.
I don’t remember any childhood trauma or anything I had a good upbringing.

Edited

I came across the idea of trauma by omission. This might talk to you?
Basically it's the idea that cptsd and childhood trauma might be shaped by lack of. Lack of support, caring, attunement rather than by soecific traumatic events (things that have happened).

Trauma by omission

Some people mentioned ADHD too.
Another hypothesis is that living with undiagnosed adhd has been traumatic in itself so you’re retreating in daydreaming. But when the symptoms of adhd ease off, you feel more at ease and less triggered into daydreaming (the daydreaming being a protective mechanism).

Obviously it’s just me speculating there!

Sometimes doing multiple things at once can help. Listening to an audiobook while playing a mobile game or folding the washing, doing diamond art etc. Walking while listening to a podcast or watching a film on the treadmill. I have adhd too, my uni degree I listened to course texts while playing the sims lol. Stardew Valley is an amazing game for playing while listening to a book. You can also increase the speed of the book, I find that this sometimes helps me keep the thread.

Even when I go out with friends we will be walking while chatting, or make it into a shopping trip. I don’t know if it will work for you but I have found stacking interests with things I need to do works very well with keeping boredom at bay.

I have also found sometimes a digital detox and allowing myself to sit in the boredom rather than doomscroll can force me to do something else. It’s not easy.

My oldest friend has no hobbies or interests yet is totally happy. She likes daytime tv and coffee with friends…end of.
She’s happy and a good friend.
And is confident in her choices.

If she's got no interests what does she talk about.
