To say a tube platform is not a suitable place for a kid to be on a scooter.

I saw a mum casually sitting down while her child of about 5 or 6 scootered up and down the platform. Going quite fast as well. AIBU to think this is stupid? I really don't understand it.

Most places are unsuitable for scooters IMO

Sadly many do not agree!

Apparently they are suitable for

supermarkets
shopping centres
busy streets
train stations
cinemas (yes I’ve experienced this)

Scooters are fun. But they are toys designed for outdoor spaces where it’s safe and sensible to scoot around.

Mind you apparently nowadays apparently busy roads and pedestrian areas are a good place to whizz round on electric scooters 🙄🤬

How could anyone say it's reasonable?
Unless your child is very sensible, it's not safe in a lot of places-if they bump into someone with certain health conditions/cause them to fall, they could effectively kill them (look up the stats for elder survival after certain ortho ops), or at least leave them with life-changing consequences.
No parent I know would do that, or not have them holding hands/walking next to them depending on age tce.

I think some parents must overestimate how sensible their children are @Pistachiocake
