To not agree with letting a 11 month old cry for 20 minutes in a strange place because he’s being sleep trained?

Mine didn't. What's your point?

I obviously stirred a hornets’ nest with my post. The following day I left the shared accommodation and went to a hotel. There has been little discussion except for my son to tell me that they weren’t sleep training The baby was upset. I know mothers need sleep I was a full time working outside the home mom of 4. I could never let a baby cry to the point of becoming distressed. I have to live with myself. A baby has no voice apart from his cry. As a mother my job was to listen to my baby. Thanks for all the posts . I won’t be saying anymore on the topic .

What about a father’s job?

Let’s be realistic, a mother’s response to a child’s cry is very different to a father’s. For a mother, there’s a hard wired biological response that men don’t have, no matter how hands on the father.

Yes everyone is different, etc but a cry does affect each parent differently.

i guess this mom’s hard wiring must be defective, then.

I was replying to @SouthLondonMum22 who said sleep is very important.

I would agree if you were talking about a newborn, but an 11-month-old knows that they haven't been abandoned.

That is very troubling, but was that really the only thing they did that might have caused you to develop these issues? It sounds like their parenting and warmth may have been lacking more generally.

An 11 month old crying will want comfort.
