Basically I find my neighbour quite a nuisance and I am not sure if I am over reacting.

She has wind chimes by my side of the fence so I can hear them at night as my bedroom is at the back.

She has multiple cats who would poo in my garden but then didn't like it when I got a motion activated sprinkler and blocked up the hedgehog hole.
I have young kids and didn't want them coming across disgusting cat poo.

She has multiple plants growing over my living room window which I shall be cutting back but again why plant a Buddleia on the boundary by my window?

Some days she will be doing DIY in the back garden past 9pm.

I wanted to be civil with her but now match her energy, ie not saying hello.

With the summer holidays and having kids at home it's just noisy non stop past 6pm most nights.

Yes, please unblock the hedgehog hole. Cats will find another way in.

Just to clarify I will not be unblocking the hedgehog holes and neither will my neighbours.

I actually showed them this thread and they just laughed.

What people do on their own land is their own business and there is no law to say we have to unblock the holes lol.
Nothing can be enforced.

Again if I unblocked the hole it would be pointless and my other cat fearing neighbour has blocked her's as well and her house is next to an alley where they would potentially access the holes, so there is no way of them entering my garden anyway.

She has absolutely refused to unblock it as well.

If cats want to get into your garden they don't need a hedgehog hole but the hedgehogs needs it, cats can easily climb walls and fences. Your neighbour may not have realised how tall budlias grow. You could ask her to cut it once it's finished flowering. I didn't plant a budlia in my garden but one self seeded and grew.

Every now and then, you get a thread that goes in a slightly unexpected direction, showing what MNetters really care about. This is one of those threads. I have high hopes that hedgehogs will have been chosen as one of the animals on our new bank notes.

A slightly interesting fact about hedgehogs is that in medieval times they were called "urchins". The name "hedgehog" then replaced "urchin", but leaving behind "sea urchin", which should perhaps get with the times and be renamed "sea hedgehog".

Just incase you’re still reading @krisssdd , I do understand that cats can be a nuisance when you and your children are trying to enjoy the garden.
A quick look online has so many easy ways to catproof a small entry for hedgehogs. Your children might then enjoy watching these little animals.

I did read on another thread that if they do not get enough water , they cannot curl up so they cannot protect themselves .

Years ago we had hedgehogs in the garden .
We had one hiding in a pile of wood debris , I put out some catfood and water mixed as I didn't know if there were babies . The adult was a very noisy eater !

The other one took up residence in my guinea-pigs outdoor house when I shifted their run so it was uncovered .

I think op is my next door neighbour 😬, no joke. There is spikes all along the fence into the back garden to ( them) and they moan when anyone (apart from them) are out in the garden having a nice time, slam doors when we come out, let the kids boot balls about when the neighbour on the other side have guests round and want to have a quiet bbq and a catch up. I could go on, but they would know if they were on here 🕵️‍♀️.

Both you and your neighbour could allow access to hedgehogs without giving more access to cats because cats can get over fences. If you're getting fewer cats in your garden that is due to your sprinkler and whatever you have added to your fence.
