Would this annoy you? Nuisance neighbour?

Basically I find my neighbour quite a nuisance and I am not sure if I am over reacting.

She has wind chimes by my side of the fence so I can hear them at night as my bedroom is at the back.

She has multiple cats who would poo in my garden but then didn't like it when I got a motion activated sprinkler and blocked up the hedgehog hole.
I have young kids and didn't want them coming across disgusting cat poo.

She has multiple plants growing over my living room window which I shall be cutting back but again why plant a Buddleia on the boundary by my window?

Some days she will be doing DIY in the back garden past 9pm.

I wanted to be civil with her but now match her energy, ie not saying hello.

With the summer holidays and having kids at home it's just noisy non stop past 6pm most nights.

You get no sympathy from me for blocking up the hedgehog hole.

Not a nice thing to do.

Hedgehogs need access between gardens - their hedgehog highway - and blocking up the holes is just cruel. You will be forcing them onto footpaths, and much nearer the road.

Please unblock the hole.

Sorry by my kids health and safety come first over a hegdehog hole.

Buddleia is a nightmare when it’s next to walls and buildings- potentially damaging. trimming overhanging vegetation is no big deal.

Nor me. Why would you block up a hedgehog hole?? You know they’re endangered and struggling, right? Hedgehogs do no harm whatsoever.

Your neighbour is clearly someone who loves plants, her garden and animals, which she has a right to do - even at 9.00 at night.

If her Buddleia is overhanging your property then cut it back but don’t make the mistake of throwing it into her garden, that’s fly tipping and illegal unless she wants it back.

Hedgehog hole is a big no, they're really struggling. And blocking up a hedgehog hole won't stop the cats, not in a million years. They will just climb the fence - probably go that way anyway as cats love being high and climbing.

The rest, yeah, annoyances.

My kids aren't really that noisy, it's her kids who make all the noise round here.
A few other neighbours have commented on this, they are up running wild in the garden past 11pm some nights just screaming.

The cats can jump a fence - so the hedgehog hole is neither here nor there.

Other neighbours here have also blocked hedge hog holes due to her cats pooing in their gardens.

Another neighbour who has multiple cars invested in a car enclosure thing when neighbours complained and this appears to have solved the issue.

She could do the same, we have already spent money on humane cat deterrents.

I can promise you, the hedgehog hole being blocked will not stop the cats. Cats are excellent climbers and actually love to climb. I am a cat owner and I also have hedgehogs in the garden. The hedgehog hole in the gate is never used by my cat.
Please unblock the hedgehog hole. They are endangered and they are really struggling in this hot weather.

Even if I were to unblock the hedge hog hole, my other neighbour has also blocked her hedge hog hole for the same reasons?

Use this opportunity to teach your children about helping nature. Fine not to like cats, absolutely fine to detest cat poop, but the hedgehog hole plays no part in this.

I do like cats and owned several before having DC.
Would do bird feeders, bird boxes the lot etc.

I realise cats can jump but by blocking the hole it reduces there access.
It has massively reduced as I have also put some stuff on the fence to stop them jumping over.

You are v unreasonable for blocking the hedgehog hole, that’s just cruel what if a mother hedgehog has babies to attend? They’re endangered now it’s so sad.
If cats want to be in your garden they’ll get in another way and you know that. Please unblock the hole.

It's the stuff on top that would've helped, as well as your cat deterrents that you said you put in.

Edit. If you have owned cats before and like them, then it is said the best way to stop cat poop in your own garden is to get your own cat. They are quite territorial and don't like other cats in their garden. Certainly worked with us when we got our first boy, no cat poop after that.

Cats do not require holes in order to get from one garden to another.

You're only harming hedgehogs unnecessarily by blocking it.

Sprinklers should stop the cats? Or a water pistol if you catch them. But to spray water directly onto a cat with the intention of causing it harm or distress is not legal so be careful you're not too harsh.

The reason you’re baffled is because you are missing reading the logical step that everyone is explaining to you which is that cats 1) do not use hedgehog holes and 2) will jump over a fence.

The cats are not getting in through the hedgehog hole. FGS. Unblock it. I am not the only poster to say it. Why on EARTH did you block the hedgehog hole?! Even if the cats could get through it, and you blocked it, the cats can still get over fences!

If you’re baffled by the responses, then maybe spend a few minutes on the internet and educate yourself as to why a hedgehog hole is not in any way going to endanger your children. You don’t seem to understand why this is - others are telling you that cats do not use hedgehog holes to move about and that you and your other neighbours are wrong for blocking them up. Hedgehogs are badly endangered and you and your neighbours are making life harder for them because you seem fixated on the fact that a hedgehog in your garden is a risk to your children. They’re nocturnal for a start - you’ll probably never see one unless you’re out at dusk. Cats climb and will go over fences. They will never use a hedgehog hole.

I wouldn't have the time to get another cat as much as I would love too.

I will look into getting a hegdhog tunnel in the hole instead.

I do like hedgehogs, they are pretty little things and the hole waa only blocked to stop the cats coming through as that is how they would initially come through.
