We’ve been in this house 28 lovely years. Last DC moved out last week and it’s just myself and DH. Despite being really happy here for all this time I’m really keen to move house and buy a place just for us. DH isn’t against the idea - I don’t want to downsize much but just really can’t imagine rattling around here, on a street surrounded by families with young children. The house needs work all the time and I’m just done with the constant maintenance and the fact it takes about 4 hours to clean the place properly.
Is this a usual reaction to your children leaving the nest? We’ll buy a place that has space if they want to visit but would love somewhere that is closer to shops and is newer and less maintenance. It feels that this house has served its purpose and it’s now time to move.
Anyone else done this? Did you regret it? Not sure if it’s a knee jerk reaction to being empty nesters
