The end of the summer will soon be upon us ladies and gents!

I want August to be a really good month. I want to be in a good place going into September, able to enjoy my home in the run up to Christmas!

I want autistic dd to be in a routine, ready to start her new school. I want dcat to be happy, as currently she hates the heat.

I want to be firmly on my weight loss journey.

You? 💕

When my eldest (now 17) started school I bought a September to August calendar as I found it easier to mark down all the school holidays and since then I’ve always treated 1st Sept as New Year/New Beginnings.

Next week I want to do a bit of decluttering, then we’re on holiday for a week and then the last couple of weeks are about getting ready to go back to school - school shoes/bag/coat etc. Our garden is a bit of a mess so I’d like to get stuck into that towards the end of Aug.

Due to various reasons I haven’t been going to the gym and I’m really missing it so I’ll be back to that properly in Sept (but I’m going to try and get and get a few couple of sessions in towards the end of Aug).

Despite having been retired from teaching for 10 years now,I still think of September as the start of a new year;I can't help it-it's ingrained into my being!

This September,I really want to get our general diet back on track after the hot weather.I must confess to getting rather fed up of 'picky bits' and am actually looking forward to some decent casseroles and suchlike again.

It's hopefully going to be the start of a new chapter for me as I'll be having eye surgery which should make life so much easier in the long run.

Decluttering continues but ,unusually,We're not doing so much house stuff this time round as we had major work done on both the outside and inside between Feb-April so we just want a break from it all now really.

Good idea OP! We've already had our summer holiday (got back yesterday) and August is generally a quiet month for me at work, so this is a great opportunity for me to have a productive month getting ready for next (academic) year.

Here are my main aims:

  1. Get DS ready for 6th form - he needs to have suits rather than school uniform.
  2. Get DD ready for uni - help her get kitchen stuff etc.
  3. Decluttering of the whole house (especially clothes but also anything else that can be cleared out).
  4. Lose a few pounds.

I’d like to finish cleaning/buying furniture for/ moving into my new classroom and complete my planning with enough time to have 2 weeks actual holiday to finish garden and maintenance jobs at home, and maybe a few days of relaxing .
