to think that the "bodice" of dresses are getting shorter?

I am 5'6" (34C) , maybe a tiny bit shorter, so not out of the ordinary and half of the dresses I try on dont properly come down to my waist.

They are styled or look like they should but the always seem to be just a wee bit too short. I dont have a long body, tops etc are fine and trousers/jumpsuits also are, its particularly dresses.

@ErrolTheDragon I’m sometimes keen on the “tall” option if there is one! Yes, I think if 2 lengths are available such as regular and petite, you can juggle sizes to get a better fit.

It's height too. Fit and flare dresses are bad for this. I'm long of body, so the waist sits just above my slimmest bit/curve of my back, then flares out, therefore hiding my best bits.

Totally agree. Arms too short as well.

I think they are just more popular these days because body shapes have changed over the years. We are generally less curvy and more square or apple shaped so empire lines/high waists usually skim over problem areas.

I really love the shape and have several empire line skater dresses.
But I also have a couple of corset style belts so I can add a waist back in if I fancy it!😀

I found one today that fits! Well actually three but I only bought one.

Blue Vanilla, the waist was perfect and they were actually maxi on me (usually they are far too long), so anyone struggling, give that range a try!
