AIBU to insist on choosing my own 70th birthday guest list?

DH after a nudge from the children is organising and paying for my 70th birthday.

Now bearing in mind I've paid for his 30, 40, 50, 60, not 70 COVID lockdowns. He's never organised a party for me and is being assisted greatly by the kids. He's just said I'm not having X I can't stand her husband. Now he's invited one of his mates and wife who I don't know. So I'm standing my ground. FFS it's the first birthday that's ever been done for me. Can't I even pick my guest list

Just present a list to your kids who are helping and tell them to invite them and ignore what their father says

I did. He thought he'd be paying for 30 it's 53. We don't like the husband but do like the wife who we've known for over 50 years so I think he just has to suck it up.

I've paid a lot of money for four big birthdays. He's never put himself out until the kids stepped in.

Just say you’ve been friends 50 years and put up with her husband x amount of years, so one more day isn’t going to hurt! To get your kids to invite them anyway.

Phone just rang he's talking to the caterers. I think I need to see the menu. I haven't had a party since my wedding reception in 1977.

I don't know about anyone else but I knew it would be you before I clicked on the thread. Your husband is awful. He has been awful a long time and will continue to be so for the next 20 birthdays I'm sure. You deserve better.
