Should l believe an hb1ac online result?

Had my hb1ac checked over a year ago and it was 37 - since then I have lost 2.5stone with the help of mounjaro. Thought l'd have it checked again but didn't want to waste a doc appointment on it so bought a test off Ebay- l really struggled to get the blood and couldn't fill it to the line but sent what little l could. Had the results back to say it is now 48 - how accurate are these tests? Should l be panicking?

I’ve no idea how accurate your eBay test was, but with a result like that, I’d be going to the GP and asking them to do an official test.

At least that way you’ll know for sure whether you need to be worrying.

A score of 37 last year was in the normal range anyway.

Would I trust a result from a test kit off Ebay? No.

If you have any concerns, maybe you could contact your GP surgery and find out whether you can have another blood test. You might need a telephone consultation with the GP.

Thank you - l am on holiday at the moment and honestly think l am going to worry about this all week.

I wouldn’t trust the test result from an eBay test tbh. I’d go back to the doctors and ask for a retest

You can get the blood test done by a nurse, then the Dr will make an appointment if needed so should be easier than getting a drs appointment.

Surely the test has an indication or reviews on whether it is reliable ?
