Have paid to attend a local SEN session with my children.
We were first to arrive, said hi went in and got settled. Dd playing on the trampoline.

Random child runs in while parent is still in hallway chatting to hosts. Kid runs over trying to undo the trampoline zip and pinches me. I suspect non verbal autism.

He then runs to the unlocked kitchen and helps himself to crisps. 2 packets.

His mum is still chatting in the hall. Its been 15 minutes.

While typing i have had to shout to the others the kid is drinking bubbly water out of the water tray. The response was yeah he does that.

The adults have now entered the session but am I the asshole for thinking you should supervise your (SEN) kid?! 🙄

Is there not a paid employee there? Yes of course any child should be supervised.

Why has no staff reacted?

Speak to the staff / management. The kitchen shouldn’t be unlocked and accessible, that’s a clear safety concern they need to address.

Yes, parents should supervise. If a parent doesn’t care about their child drinking from the tray I’d just leave them to it tbh.

You should supervise your kids. Full stop. Sen or not sen, supervise them.

We ended up leaving after child tried to grab my child off the trampoline and mum was just saying stand back to my frozen child...while mum tried to drag him off.

So yeah, but of a failure.
