Excessive weeing

This has literally just started tonight. Had to get up for a wee at least once every hour throughout the evening and each time I’m producing a lot of wee. No pain when urinating but have had some mild, general soreness in the area for a day or two. I’ve had 3 coffees and a tea so could be caffeine related but it is unusual for me. Obviously I’m on alert for UTI but since I’m actually weeing when I go (not feeling the need to go but then not producing much) and there’s no pain, smell or other signs I’m confused.

I will keep an eye the next few days. Any ideas though? And is it true you can go to a pharmacy for possible UTI symptoms now instead of GP? Thanks

Sounds exactly like a UTI to me and yes, you can go to a pharmacist in the first instance.

I’ve never had one so I wouldn’t instantly recognise the signs but I always thought that the classic symptoms were pain when weeing and also the feeling of needing to go but then not actually producing anything.

Watch out for cloudy wee, irritation or strong odour. Sometimes a shooting pain.

Don't always have pain with a UTI, next door neighbour was hospitalised recently because she didn't get any pain having a pee. She got so dizzy, she couldn't stand up!

Get some antibiotics, it's a 3 day course from a pharmacy. Just to say though that a lot of urine infections are becoming harder to treat so you may have to go to the GP for something different or longer than 3 days worth to knock it on the head. Watch out for lower back pain especially as it means starting to affect the kidneys.

Do UK pharmacies do blood glucose (finger prick) tests? Could be reassuring that it is not diabetes.

Could just be some water retention/dehydration resolving after all of the hot weather?
Or hormonal? I pee a lot just before my period!

Well it seems a lot better today. I did wake up with the urgency but I always pee a lot in the morning! As the day has gone on it feels a lot more normal. I actually held a pee for longer than I should have yesterday afternoon (after drinking a coffee too!) I was out and couldn’t get to a loo. When I got home I was bursting and it was a bit painful. Apparently this can actually irritate the bladder and cause the symptoms I was experiencing last night. Hopefully it’s all settled now but it is reassuring to know that a pharmacist can help with this sort of thing.

I get this when I ovulate.
