can a tub of Sudo cream last years even if it’s not used much? Like if I didn’t use for over a year should I chuck it out or it’ll be ok?

same question applies for products such as aloe Vera nivea body lotion

I'd use that, I don't think those type of things go off do they.

Cheersminesalargeone · 16/07/2026 18:37

I’ve a tin of Zambuk that I’ve had for at least a decade.

Reminds me of the body shop butters I used to get at Christmas, they'd be hanging around for years until I chucked them out!

dogFlatOut · 16/07/2026 20:32

Most cosmetics have a 6 - 12 month expiration date on them after opening.

look at the tub and see what it says.

probably won’t kill you using beyond the date - but active ingredients may have weakened.

sun cream especially I always write in it when I open it - as not worth getting burnt of out of date.

Mines been going for 3 years now...

Loulou4022 · 16/07/2026 20:48

I personally wouldn’t. You’re putting Sudocrem on already damaged skin so bacteria from the cream may enter the skin. I’ve got super sensitive skin and chuck products out regularly I’m trying to remember to date them. I would maybe go a few months over if I haven’t opened it much. I’d also feel happier using a tube of something longer as you’re not dipping your fingers into it

Sherararara · 16/07/2026 20:49

Unless you plan on eating it or it has turned green I think you’re fine.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 16/07/2026 20:50

Mine I just replace when I come to the end of it.

Cuppachuchu · 16/07/2026 20:54

It's one of those things I never finish, so replace it after about 3 years.
Also, chap sticks. Does anyone ever use up a whole one?

cheapskatemum · 16/07/2026 20:54

Agree with @dogFlatOut, there should be a use by date on the tub. If it’s just a month & the year then you can use it until the end of that month.
