WIBU To call the police?

I know myself i wasn't BU. But everyone around me seems to think I was and now I have put myself at risk.

House on the street. Couple, 5 kids. Always volatile, enough shouting and screaming that I can hear their voices carry across the road into my house.

Over the past few years there have been incidents where I have called the police. The male is arrested, she doesn't support it, not enough evidence, nfa. I have also raised safeguarding concerns more than once.

A few days ago there was another incident (on the doorstep, its always on the doorstep) and it was severe enough for me to call the police again. They attended, arrested the male, and for the first time officers went into the property.

What they found was severe enough to remove the children. I do not know all of the details but the officer told me some and it is grim.

Because of this I'm now public enemy number one to the mother, and I'm assuming her partner when he reappears from wherever he is bailed to. She has been screaming over to my house, throwing things around the garden, generally losing it.

And now my own family think I did the wrong thing and I have put myself and DD in danger. But I dont see how I was supposed to sit back and let it happen - especially with what the police uncovered.

I do. I think people who put themselves at risk to allow vulnerable children to be kept safe are the best of us.

PuppiesProzacProsecco · Today 15:37

Well done OP. If more people stood up for the vulnerable in our society, the world would be a better place.

You did the right thing.

5 children will have a chance in life now thanks to you

Wreckinball · Today 15:38

If she or her family come round again deny it but tell her you will call the police if they don’t leave you alone.

Your own family think you did wrong to save children from a horrible abusive situation?

They do not remove children unless something absolutely major was going on.

I think in this case it's your family who are unreasonable. I know in this country people tend to try and mind their own business but honestly that's the attitude which ended up with no one getting involved when little James Bulger was kidnapped, and no one getting involved when Baby P was tortured to death. You did the right thing.

I guess you're the person who would have walked past when little James Bulger was crying for his mother, 'nothing to see here, minding my own business'.

You'd have lived next door to Baby P and heard to poor child crying in pain as he was being abused to death, 'no one likes a grass'. Honestly. Disgusting attitude.

ImImmortalNowBabyDoll · Today 15:58

You've done 100% the right thing. You could have saved lives, and at minimum you have got those children out of an unsafe environment. To instantly remove them, it must have been very, very bad. If she does anything else, call the police every single time. Depending on how threatening she is, they may or may not come out each time but it will all be logged and used as evidence to show that she is not stable to have those children in her care.

No one likes an unemployed rage baiting middle aged overweight incel sat at a crusty computer in his mother’s box room trying to argue with women online who won’t give you the time of day in real life.

Yet here you are.

How do they know it was you that called police?
If they are threatening you, you need to ring the police and log it,you can get an injunction served on her to keep away from you
