Kier and Kemi showed the best of British politics today

I do miss the days that every political interaction was like that. We’ve become so nasty in politics these days, it’s nice to see some mutual respect again.

I agree. See Reeves was crying again.

Ilikewinter · Yesterday 19:55

I agree. I also liked how there was a bit of light hearted humour and Starmer admitted he'd sort of answered her questions!

I agree. See Reeves was crying again.

It wasn’t just her though, was it?

It was nice! It reminded me of politics pre-Brexit.

I thought it was a bit hypocritical to give KS a round of applause after stabbing him in the back tbh. Good luck to them all with Andy.

I don't blame her! I'd probably have cried

Agreed. It’s quite distasteful, hounding people out for spurious reasons and then acting like you’re their friend or that you will miss them.

CakesofPan · Yesterday 20:06

Yes, it was so refreshing. Why can’t politics be more like that?

hattie43 · Yesterday 20:07

I’m another one who always likes respect from politicians but the hypocrisy today of applause knowing these same people stabbed him in the back . It’s a brutal game and you have to wonder why anyone would want to be a politician in today’s climate .

AnneLovesGilbert · Yesterday 20:11

Classy all round I thought, yes.

REP22 · Yesterday 20:11

I agree @thefireinyourheart - it was good to see. A fine example of how decent politicians should behave. That orange w~nk-goblin currently polluting the White House could learn much from it.

endofthelinefinally · Yesterday 20:12

I do respect KS. I thought he had some credibility on the international stage. I feel he could have done a better job with a more competent team.

It was like the old days wasn't it

I didn't like Ed Davey comments about Reform. Could've been phrase better. Seems like part of the kind of politics of hate that's going on at the moment. And today was really really terrible day for that.

I do. She was shite and didn’t know what she was doing. She is to blame for job reductions by employers. Not all of them are sleeping on mattresses stuffed full of money.

She cries when it doesn’t go her away

Beetlebumz · Yesterday 23:03

I agree op. It was really nice to see and actually civilised for once. I hate the divisive left/right nasty politics of today..Trump started it and certain people are pushing that agenda in this country too

PropertyD · Yesterday 19:54

I agree. See Reeves was crying again.

Don’t do that.

GotALionInMyPocket · Yesterday 23:15

I nearly fainted seeing Kemi being nice! She’s usually such a cold, sarky bitch. It was weirdly heartening.

QueenOfHiraeth · Yesterday 23:34

I loved the fact he acknowledged she has offered support privately on some occasions. It's good to hear the animosity of PMQs can be put aside for human decency

Sunshineandrainbow · Yesterday 23:38

Was it during PM questions? I need to try and find it!

Gengha · Yesterday 23:42

I had a lump in my throat when he talked about how Kemi had reached out to him personally. The human side we don’t always see. I felt sorry for RR too. it must have been a hard day.

Fifthtimelucky · Today 00:27

I agree that there were some lovely moments today, but I find the suggestion that politics was always like that pre-Brexit extremely odd!

CherryVanillaPie · Today 00:33

I agree. Kemi has gone up in my estimation

WorriedMutha · Today 00:44

I am raging at Labour for skewering KS. I'm a Labour member and I think there have been mistakes but there was time to get back on track.
By the way I accidentally pressed YABU when I meant to say YANBU. Sorry but factor that into the vote.

KenAdams · Today 00:54

This is the Kemi I remember from the Conservative leadership debate. Somewhere along the way she turned quite nasty, unnecessarily so.

Her and Andy have a really good chance to reset here and try and win back voters for both sides by showing the advantages of politics of yore and how both parties can work effectively together rather than just exchanging social media soundbite insults.

They need to show that there's an alternative to third party solutions because voters are fed up of the tit for tat and the mudslinging with no tangible action.

tears of joy or tears of sadness ?
