a) all bent because they put them in a jiffy bag and didn't write DO NOT BEND on the envelope so of course the postman shoved them through the letterbox

and

b) out of focus. They gave me really small originals to look at (passport sized) and they looked fine but at 10x8, they look crap. Honestly, I've taken better photos of him.

Should I complain? Ask for my money back? Or just accept that it's not that easy to take a photo in focus of a one year old and stop being so PFB about it?

if you paid for them, I would complain.

spicemonster · 25/06/2008 16:47

I paid 28 quid!

oh definitely complain! If they are charging such a huge amount for photos, they should be good ones!

WigWamBam · 25/06/2008 16:48

Complain and ask for your money back. They are professional photographers; it's their job to be able to take properly focussed photographs of one year olds!

belgo · 25/06/2008 16:49

I have many well focused photos of my children at this age. it's not that hard, even with a normal camara.

Hulababy · 25/06/2008 16:50

Definitely complain.

spicemonster · 25/06/2008 19:26

I'm glad you don't think IBU but not looking forward to the phone call. I hate complaining

Def complain! They shouldn't have even given the proof to you to look at if it was blurred at a normal size imo, or should have commented that the resolution was only good enopugh for say a 6x4 shot.

And agree it's their job to take focused pics of 1 year olds!

mitfordsisters · 25/06/2008 22:09

Ask for your money back

kitbit · 26/06/2008 08:52

Definitely ask for your money back! For 28quid they should have provided a proper service, including getting the photos to you in good condition. Cheeky buggers

hayley2u · 26/06/2008 08:59

give them ring say there awful and ask for refund or another photo to be taken. or get money back and get your own done

2sugars · 26/06/2008 09:00

Complain. To your heart's content.

dilbertina · 26/06/2008 09:00

My nursery had a photgrapher in last year and ds (9months at time) clearly has a snot slick across his face and teary eyes - don't think he particularly enjoyed the experience! I bought a few small ones anyway though!

Generally I prefer to enlarge the odd good relaxed photo we've taken rather than buy big sizes of posed ones.

I guess in your case the photographer will claim you approved the picture, but I still think it's worth trying to get your money back. Good luck

Kewcumber · 26/06/2008 09:02

absolutely complain - thats ridiculous.

Oblomov · 26/06/2008 09:14

Def complain. Ds has many different photos done at nursery. One was lovely. Most not to my liking.

bergentulip · 26/06/2008 09:19

Complain.

Unprofessionally taken.
Unprofessionally 'displayed'.
Unprofessionally delivered.

-----
Of course they only show you a piddly picture to approve! Cheeky sods.

I had photos done recently of my little one at his kindergarten, and they sent him home first with a pack, a form, the actual size photo, and a load of passport sized ones too(about 20 on a sheet).
I could keep that, pay them for it, but also order more if I wanted. Which I did.
Another 5 - TOTAL cost EUROS 12.50.
Very professional! What the...?!!? 28quid?!!

I think the school is being ripped off to be honest, and should get a new photographer!

spicemonster · 26/06/2008 09:26

I am going to show the photo to my friend today to check that she doesn't think I'm being stupid before I call. It's not really, really out of focus but it's blurred and has obviously been touched up.

He doesn't go to nursery any more - he starts with a CM next month so no more chance of getting photos done until he starts school. Perhaps I'll get a proper photographer to take some pics. Or stick with my own efforts!

To be fair to the photographer, I don't think he put them in the jiffy bag, I think it was the nursery so that's their fault. I would have gone to collect them and even suggested that but they said no, they'd post them.
