Feel guilty for reporting NDN?

So basically for about 2 months now my NDN has been playing loud music now.

There is no set pattern.

One day it was on from 1pm - 10pm in a school night.

Other times until midnight.

One time I was napping at the front of the house and could hear it all the way from the back garden.

The couple are very rude and don't even say hello so there is no way I would feel comfortable addressing this to them.
They are both quite intimidating and both on drugs (marijuana) so there is no way I would want to rattle their cage further as they have grievances with quite a few other neighbours.

So I reported it to the HA who surprisingly acted fast and must of had a word with her as all week there has been no music on.

I feel abit guilty, did I over react?

Obviously not. Why post?

spstchmu · 09/07/2026 22:37

A bit. But hard to know because we've not met your neighbours. Had a giggle at 'on drugs'

gardenhenn · 09/07/2026 22:41

The female moans about everyone for any little thing, she isn't very considerate to others but expects it back.

You could be my MILs neighbour! She complained about their music and cannabis smoking and received a letter last Wednesday.

I have to say, if you are her neighbour, Thank you for not putting up with it.

On the likely chance you’re not at all local, YANBU. It’s horrible being next door to someone who makes your home smell like drugs and interrupts your peace.

Obvious why the OP posted. Why ask?

Why? What do you find funny about that?

Its a strange turn of phrase for smoking weed. And irrelevant, its not going to make them aggressive or 'dangerous'. If smoking the weed was part of the complaint I could understand!

Okiedokie123 · 09/07/2026 23:23

@spstchmu maybe you feel comfortable chatting to people with a drug habit but I think the majority of us would say otherwise. The OP said they are intimidating, play loud music and have fallen out with various other neighbours. Along with being on drugs thats reason enough for concern. Regardless of what form being "on drugs" takes.
@gardenhenn keep a written record of all instances of loud music/behaviour that is a nuisance - handy to have as evidence if they are a problem in future. As housing association tennants its probably part of their tenancy that they need to not do certain things.

Lizzbear · 10/07/2026 00:24

Being “on drugs” sounds like something my 79 year old mother would say.
just saying.

Hpsa · 10/07/2026 00:35

@Lizzbear maybe the OP is 79. So what?

Oh come on its not an ageist thing. Its the way these people are being portrayed, on drugs, rude.
The music and the pot sound incredibly annoying but the way its written is judgemental. Just go and tell them to turn the music down.

Newmeagain · 10/07/2026 01:21

@spstchmu let’s be real here. If these are people who spend their days smoking weed and playing loud music with no consideration for anyone else, then there is plenty to be judgy about and they are not the kind of people most of us would want to confront.

Hpsa · 10/07/2026 01:24

@spstchmu huh? Neighbours are rude and inconsiderate and it’s the OP’s language you’re bothered about? Maybe she’s a bit scared of possible repercussions if she confronts them directly. Sounds like she got a good result.

Should she have said they smoke lots of zoots/weed/spliffs?

OP, don’t feel guilty.
