To ask what scares you /freaks you out that you would not consider common? Mine is a children’s book!

My 3 year old is obsessed with “We’re Going On A Bear Hunt” after having it read to her at preschool, she knows all of the words and we bought it as one of her gifts for her birthday.

We read a book every night at bed, whenever she reaches for this it gives me such bad goosebumps!

I don’t know if it’s the way it’s written, the pictures, I genuinely feel panic when they’re trying to get away from the bear and he’s in the background of the pictures and then at their front door and they’ve forgotten to lock it. I absolutely detest it 🥴 it gives me the right creeps!

This is baring in mind that all I read myself is psychological thrillers and I’ve watched so much true crime I could probably commit the perfect murder 😂 why do I have such a panicky/spooked response to a children’s book fgs!

I’ll never watch it again in the entire rest of my life.

For me it's just the 'run of the mill' dummies. Emu, Muppets, even Jeff Dunham's foam sculpted puppets don't bother me. And I adore Lamb Chop. But God preserve me from Charlie McCarthy or Jerry Mahoney!!! And I loved Jerry Mahoney as a kid! The human mind is a weird thing!

I loved Dame Edna. I had a friend's mother who was just like her and I loved her mum, she was a riot!

Although I'll admit Rod Hull was a bit creepy on his own.

Waxworks. They freak me out. They look too lifelike. When my brother wanted to go to Madame Tussauds for his birthday I couldn't go with him, my Mum took him and Dad stayed with me. No problem with any noter ind if model or puppet just waxworks.

Yep, having the light in my direct eye line, with all that nothing beneath it, horrible. I can just about contain my horror, but nothing else gives me that lurching/dropping sensation.

You’re the only person who has ever ‘got’ this, so I feel slightly less freaky now.

Me again! I’ve been to the only two double land-locked countries in the world. Liechtenstein probably wasn’t far from some sort of coast (and to be fair, if you go a mile or so in any direction, you’re in a different country anyway), but Uzbekistan, yeah, a long way from any coast at all. Loved Uzbekistan, but you might feel differently!

I was at a theatre in London watching When Harry met Sally about 20 years ago and the chandelier came lose. Luke Perry was quite the hero type when he jumped off of the stage to help evacuate the disproportionate number of elderly people sat underneath it.

Age about 5 I was terrified of ET, I remember people explaining he was friendly but the idea of an alien appearing in my wardrobe was terrifying. I started checking for him regularly. He was on an advert for something and I used to scream when it came on the TV and make my mum change the channel. My mum is convinced I never actually saw the film and just developed a deep fear of the idea of it

Omg I have this and I had no idea it had a name! I thought it was just me!

I'm also not bothered by skyscrapers, it's big machinery that bothers me. The huge big rig trucks in America made my skin crawl.

I also hate plants with big leaves. Gunnera in particular, I can't even stand looking at it!

Even though I live in one I don’t like horizontal high rises as to me they look like vertical ones that have fallen over and are going to stand up and walk off somewhere. I think I better shut up now.🤣

Massive ships out of the water both terrify and thrill me. I find them really scary but also find myself googling images of ship breaking yards.

The scary creature from the moomins that used to just float around and stand outside people’s houses.

Things in water that don’t belong there same as things out of water, looking at you ships in dry dock

I used to be terrified of Wee Willie Winkie I was terror for not sleeping and my told me about him and said he flies up to the window and if you’re still awake he’ll hook you out the window by your nose. It’s a wonder he hasn’t got you long before now. 🤣. Needless to say I soon started sleeping

My daughter likes it too, I just think the bear hasn't seen anyone for a long time and he wants a cuppa and a chat.. he follows them home but they slam the door in his face poor guy.. the way he sadly walks back down the beach to his cave with his shoulders slumped just confirms it for me.

There is a fun Easter one too (we're going on a egg hunt), which my daughter absolutely loves, with a wolf instead of a bear.. the poor wolf only wanted some easter eggs!

Had a big toy one when I was a kid, like a ride-on type thing. His face was a plastic disc stuck on the front. One day his face fell off and I was terrified of him. Many decades later he still gives me the creeps!

Ooh, memories, me too. To make matters worse I come from the place where Alan Garner lived and he was a regular visitor to my primary school reading his books 😳

That’s interesting, it’s daft as some of the land locked countries are probably the same distance to the coast as non landlocked, I just need to go through another country but it makes me uneasy. Apparently it’s a common feeling with islanders and I suppose uk is a big island. That’s amazing you have been to Uzbekistan.

Morrisons have a robotic floor cleaner. I hate it, I feel like it's an evil being, watching me and reading my mind. I can't go down an aisle if it's there. I have never been scared of a machine before.

I watched the animals of farthing Wood when I was around 7 and was genuinely terrified by some of the deaths in it.

Also read flowers in the attic when I was a teenager and found it very disturbing.

Also can't stand velvet. I feel sick at the sight and touch of it.

Puff the Magic Dragon was always eerie to me.

Too many things, pylons and those masts that had discs on, telephone masts I think? As a kids I thought they were eyes watching me. Lorrys without their trailer section attached. Another vote for swimming pool grates.
On the contrary I loved cooling towers as a kid, I thought the shape looked friendly! I must have been an odd child!
