To ask if you have had a boob job?

I've always had really tiny boobs (32B) and have always really disliked them. I know it's really silly but I just feel like less of a woman with them being this small. When I was breastfeeding my kids, I went up to a 36C-D, and was elated with them. Now they've sagged and deflated and I'm back to hating them again. They used to be even smaller when I had an ED, they were a 30A.

I don't know what to do. I want to get a breast augmentation but I have a lot of reservations about it, namely;

  • cost
  • cost of second one when needing to get them switched out
  • not wanting to do it then regret it
  • considering maybe a fat transfer instead as I don't particularly like the implant look, but I feel anything would be better than this
  • I don't want my DD to look at me and wonder why I have done this. I don't want her to think she needs to change herself. Equally, I'm all about supporting people doing whatever makes them feel good. Yet, I can't help but feel implants are rooted in pandering to the male gaze. On the contrary, I feel that having boobs is of course a feminine quality, so maybe it's not all about that? I'm trying to figure out in my head if I'm doing it to look better for myself or other people.

This is something that I am very insecure about, so please be kind. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with small boobs, I just wish mine were bigger. I know I should be grateful that they breastfed my kids etc., and I truly am. It's just the size that bothers me. I feel like clothes just look childish on me because of it, too.

Have you ever had a boob job and did you regret it, or were you happy with them? Any complications and would you recommend? Would be interested to hear if anybody has had a fat transfer there, as well.

Yabu - don't get one
Yanbu - get one if you want to

I would honestly love to lose all feeling in my nipples, I cannot stand them being touched after almost 4 consecutive years of breastfeeding. Never again!

Though this was my initial thought - I can afford it, so why not? Yet reading this thread I'm beginning to realise it could be a lot of hassle, potentially more than it's worth...

Also just to note - you don’t always lose feeling in your nipples if done correctly it’s temporary but you can in fact lose some feeling.

Bride2bbbbb · 06/07/2026 20:27

I’ve had 3 boob jobs. I had extreme weight loss plus breast fed twice. They were like empty socks. I could fold them in half upwards.

First was implants under the muscle with an uplift. Had to be then removed and put over the muscle as they weren’t sitting right. My muscle was too firm to allow the implant to drop into position. Over the muscle worked better for me

I then had a really bad car accident and one implant burst - they are gummy gel - but still took 5 hours of being blasted with a high powered jet to get the gel out of my chest wall. I was in surgery for so long my DP thought I was dead - he had been told I’d be out of surgery after 90minutes. Had the implants replaced and I also had my areolas reduced as over time they stretch out with implants.

Had months of trying to get the affected breast healed - various wound treatments, silver bandages - eventually had to have the affected tissue cut out under local anaesthetic and re-sutured. Surgeon said the skin was horrifically inflamed inside

Im at least £15k in now. I like the look of them but I wish that fat transfers had been more of a thing then - I would have had that done instead. As I now feel I have no option but to leave mine in and replace at some point down the line.

Interesting, this is the kind of way I was thinking of going. I'm very petite (size 6, 5'1) so I didn't want some random massive boobs. Just maybe a 32C/D or something like that. I'm so glad that you're happy with yours, do you feel more confident? That's all I'm hoping to achieve, it's the only thing I'm really insecure about tbh.

100% more confident. DH has noticed my confidence change. I’m happier wearing slim fit t shirts as my boobs were either merging into my stomach or in a padded push up bra before hand!
I’m also 5’1” and went down from a size 16-18 to a 10 so they lacked the volume post kids and weight loss.
I’d say mine look pretty natural, and no one has really noticed other than those I’ve told and shown them the before and after pics! So it wasn’t for the attention or acknowledgement from other people, it was purely for my confidence and how I felt.

I had them done on a Friday morning, went home on the Saturday (my choice of an overnight stay, I could’ve gone home the same day) and I had about 3/4 days with no driving and just took regular paracetamol & occasional codeine, had to sleep on my back and wear a sports bra and I was lucky I had zero pain or negative side effects

MsSquiz · 06/07/2026 20:45

Just to add, I’m 40 this month and it took me a long time of saying I wanted to do it before actually doing my research, having the consultation and getting them done.
you need to be happy with your decision and your consultant!

grinandslothit · 06/07/2026 20:46

I had one roughly 20 years ago the first few years it was fine. I regret it now I am a bit overweight and it's hard to find anyone who will remove them at my current weight and they both have severe capsular contracture and are painful
So no I would not do it

I've noticed like 75% of comments on this thread aren't actually answering the question. OP has asked for experiences (good and bad) of people who have had a boob job.

Most responses are either -

  • don't get one
  • I would never get one
  • I have big boobs and would never get one
  • I have small boobs and would never get one

Reign your necks in ladies. She wasn't asking for a general public consultation on the concept of breast surgery. She was asking for experiences.

I think experiences of achieving contentment with your body without the risks or costs of surgery are relevant to this question.

Casceres · 06/07/2026 21:14

I had implants. Quite small ones and just to balance my proportions out really. Was very pleased with them and made me feel much more confident etc.
But some years after having the op, I started getting some strange medical issues. I had private health insurance and so had various investigations, including MRI. It was suspected I had MS but absolutely nothing showed up.

One day I had a light bulb moment and started researching whether the implants could be making me ill. I quickly realised it was likely the case and arranged to have them removed. The surgeon who did the explant said she does far more explants than implants. From the day I had the implants removed I no longer had the symptoms so I have no doubts that my body was rejecting the foreign objects. Breast implant illness is a real thing.

I miss them but at the end of the day my health is more important.

Good luck with your decision.

BigBrownBoogyingBear · 06/07/2026 21:22

My boobs are teeny and I love them!
I used to wish they were bigger when I was younger, but now (I'm 48) I would hate to be any bigger.
They are still very pert, despite two pregnancies and extended BF. I can go bra-less (I do use nipple covers!). I can run and exercise freely. They don't hurt or get in the way. I am honestly delighted with them 🤣

I’m sure o/p is capable of reading and deciding what information she thinks is relevant or not. It’s a discussion and people can have their say.

personally I think it’s very relevant to hear from people with bigger breasts- natural or not. It may help o/p realise it’s not all great on the other side and there are advantages to smaller boobs.

But she didn’t say she wanted to go huge. There’s a massive difference between an enhanced c / d cup and a natural F or whatever.

Sorry, didn’t realise you were in charge of discourse. My bad.

You all just sound so sanctimonious. ‘I would never, you should never, women should never…’

There are pros and cons. Factual data points for both. OP is asking for them. Not other people’s opinions on what she should do with her own body. As women we can do better than spend our time policing one another’s bodily autonomy.

Other people’s opinions can help people see the world in a different way, surely thats helpful in many areas of life.

Look at all these fabulous women with small boobs. They are 100% feminine and beautiful. https://shopbitties.com/blogs/bitties-blog/40-stunning-celebrities-with-small-boobs

If i’d have looked like any of these ladies i wouldn’t have had them done. I didn’t. I looked like imane khelif and couldn’t find any women’s clothes to fit, at all.

If a person is miserable with their body it’s ok to want to change it.

In a discussion about, say, educational policy, or taxation, yes. In a discussion about what a person should do to their own body? Absolutely not. Zero other opinions are allowed. Factual information about scarring and nerve damage and infection, yes. Opinions no.

i have big boobs naturally and I hate them. They make me look even fatter than I am and I find it hard to find clothes that suit me. Bras for bigger women are ugly and harder to find. When I was younger I found men were often more interested in my boobs than me.

i hope I don’t come across as judgmental but for the life of me I don’t understand why women want bigger boobs.

I totally agree. I have a large chest and it’s a total pain. Exercise, finding clothes that fit, back ache, decent bras. Even getting a massage is annoying because lying on my front is so uncomfortable.

Notgonnalieaboutthis · 06/07/2026 22:50

No. I love my boobs the way they are

TheGrimSmile · 06/07/2026 22:56

No, I couldn't bear the feeling of having a "foreign object" stitched inside my body; it just goes against every instinct in my body. In fact, Ive had a mastectomy and refused reconstruction for that reason. I dont judge anyone who does at all. But I think given your background, you need to think long and hard about whether this will help you.

That’s for the o/p to say though. She asked the question and may find the wider opinion range helpful.

it’s not your place to decide what the o/p wants to hear.

Tink3rbell30 · 06/07/2026 23:17

No no no. Breast implant illness is becoming more and more common and you have to keep having them done throughout your life. So much can go wrong, rupture, bottoming out, CC, pocket deformity, implant recalls etc. (From someone who's had 3 breast ops). Just not worth it!

VoltaireMittyDream · 06/07/2026 23:30

Heckinhackedoff · 06/07/2026 19:12

Oh my god, are you being serious??? That's so terrifying. I am honestly horrified after reading that. I am adding all of these comments to a list of sorts to try and help me to decide what to do. This is going at the top of the cons list, in bold. Thank you for sharing, really hope your friend is okay now (is she??)

She is fine now - it was about 3 years ago. But it took her the better part of a year to fully recover.

desperatemum1234 · 06/07/2026 23:38

I am so sad that any woman feels less of a woman due to small breasts or feels that they need to change themselves. I’m much smaller than you OP, AA, but I love my body.
