I've always had really tiny boobs (32B) and have always really disliked them. I know it's really silly but I just feel like less of a woman with them being this small. When I was breastfeeding my kids, I went up to a 36C-D, and was elated with them. Now they've sagged and deflated and I'm back to hating them again. They used to be even smaller when I had an ED, they were a 30A.

I don't know what to do. I want to get a breast augmentation but I have a lot of reservations about it, namely;

  • cost
  • cost of second one when needing to get them switched out
  • not wanting to do it then regret it
  • considering maybe a fat transfer instead as I don't particularly like the implant look, but I feel anything would be better than this
  • I don't want my DD to look at me and wonder why I have done this. I don't want her to think she needs to change herself. Equally, I'm all about supporting people doing whatever makes them feel good. Yet, I can't help but feel implants are rooted in pandering to the male gaze. On the contrary, I feel that having boobs is of course a feminine quality, so maybe it's not all about that? I'm trying to figure out in my head if I'm doing it to look better for myself or other people.

This is something that I am very insecure about, so please be kind. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with small boobs, I just wish mine were bigger. I know I should be grateful that they breastfed my kids etc., and I truly am. It's just the size that bothers me. I feel like clothes just look childish on me because of it, too.

Have you ever had a boob job and did you regret it, or were you happy with them? Any complications and would you recommend? Would be interested to hear if anybody has had a fat transfer there, as well.

Yabu - don't get one
Yanbu - get one if you want to

I had my boobs done 3 years ago.

You will/ should have a few consultation before booking in a surgery date. They gave me a bra which they put demos in, so you can see and feel the potential, obviously it’s not perfect. I also had a 3D picture to help me give an idea.

I’ve always been very small. I thought I was a 30B turned out I was a 28AA. I’m currently a 28F, which sounds big but I’m 5ft6, and never had anyone say they are too big looking. I did have 375cc implants.

You will be given an option also what types of boobs you would like - tear drop which are more naturally looking or the round ones which are the fake looking mores.

I love my boobs, and so glad I done it and waited til after I decided to have no more children. I feel it makes me feel more like a woman.

It costs me around £4500, and under the muscle but that was purely because I had no boobs. If I had boobs to reconstruct/ movement of nipples it would be an additional £3000!

I have had eating problems, if you do forward with it. You will gain water weight for a few days. I gained 10 pounds after surgery, and cried. Few days later it was all gone and must have been water weight.

I was back in work, a week after but I work in Admin.

Hope that helps x

This was such a helpful comment, thanks so much. Lots of useful information and I can really envision the who process now. I like that they showed you what it would roughly look like and feel like, I think that would help a lot. Were the consultations paid? It sounds like you got them for a really good price. I would definitely want something natural, not too big, just enough to fit my body a bit better. Glad you warned me about the water weight gain as well as I would probably spiral if that happened and I had no warning.

Lots to think about, thank you so much x

I had a lift only after weight loss. I am a 32B and the main thing about surgery i think is that you get back about a third of your trunk as if you are suddenly standing up straight. Before the lift, the middle section of my trunk (if thats what its called?) Was kind of covered by the sagging but now I dont even bother with a wired bra. Best thing I did after the gastric sleeve. I do a lot of pilates now and love that my boobs are smaller and compliment my body. I dont think I have said the word trunk since I was at boarding school, I hope you know what I mean though 😀

A friend of mine nearly died of sepsis after an infected shaving cut spread to the tissue around her implants. She was in hospital for nearly a month - at one point the doctors were suggesting they may need to amputate her arms to save her life.

That was enough to make me want to leave my tiny boobs alone.

Oh my god, are you being serious??? That's so terrifying. I am honestly horrified after reading that. I am adding all of these comments to a list of sorts to try and help me to decide what to do. This is going at the top of the cons list, in bold. Thank you for sharing, really hope your friend is okay now (is she??)

It seems like you personally have a lot to unpack mentally and I would advise waiting in your case.

I had mine done 12 years ago, in 5'5 size 6 and I LOVE mine. They (imo) look great and aren't too big/small. Had no issues (touch wood) and recovery was fine. Mine dont make me look fat as they are very perky (and obvs the rest of me is slim). Im a 30e/f so not enormous.

It's not for everyone so you need to be extremely sure.

Jerrybalanitis · 06/07/2026 19:13

As @FocusToday said, not for the shy. The consultations are like an 80s page 3 shoot! You have to stand there with your worst parts exposed for the before photos. It's quite good for having to face up to the fact it is a serious surgery and not an easy fix and you have to be careful after and wear the support bras for ages. Don't be tempted to rush it, my friend got fat necrosis from overdoing it, going out drinking and to the gym far too early.

Andshesoffatatrot · 06/07/2026 19:16

I’m a 34AA

Yes they are tiny.
Gravity doesn’t effect tiny things quite so much
i can sleep on my front
i can run with ease
I can exercise
People think I’m thinner than I am
i can wear a (very) padded bra if I want/need
They are very sensitive so wouldn’t want that compromised!

I would not add a foreign body in me

I plan to live a loooong healthy life to about 98, that’s far too much hassle to keep swapping my knockers.

Do I love my boobs? I suppose I’d to have grown bigger ones, but hey, the girls worked when I needed them to

Fushia123 · 06/07/2026 19:22

Yes …… I have had what you call a ‘boob job’ but mine was having a breast removed due to breast cancer. I would like nothing more than being back to how I was, but it’s not possible. Reading posts and responses like these makes me wish so much that women could be happy with what breasts they have.
Try to think positively about being healthy and don’t put yourself through unnecessary surgical procedures.

TheChosenTwo · 06/07/2026 19:23

I’m a 30A and after losing quite a bit of weight on MJ am now the weight I would like to remain at.
my boobs went from being a bit small to now being very tiny.
But they actually suit my small frame now, clothes seem to hang nicely on me and even though they’re little and empty and flat and saggy they just fit on my body properly when I wear a bra.
Over the last 20 years I went back and forth about having them done, lifted and filled back out again until about 5 years ago when I realised I just didn’t care. Initially when I looked into it I couldn’t handle the idea of taking my top off for a stranger to look at them, I didn’t want anyone to see them so sad they were. The idea of having to get my biggest insecurities out and on display…
And now I care even less, they are perfect for me.

Do think really carefully, I wouldn’t judge anyone for having one, but it’s not an insignificant thing to do.

rememberingthem · 06/07/2026 19:24

I totally get you being unhappy with your body and wanting to change it, i would have things changed if i could afford it. However i have friends and family that have had boob jobs and will say that they are less flattering to you as you age! They can make you look matronly and bigger than you actually are. If you are determined to do it make sure you do your research properly and choose a natural looking size.

8TinyToeBeans · 06/07/2026 19:25

I haven’t but I have had dainty 30B boobs, then after finally learning I had coeliac disease and putting on weight, I now have 30G boobs. I hate them. I wish I had my 30Bs back! I wish I could go bra-less. I wish I could buy the pretty bras again and not the structural monstrosities. I guess my point here being that we often want what we don’t have. I was excited when my boobs shot up in size to start with, but the reality was very different to the initial excitement. They are a hindrance. I’d happily have them removed completely.

Userengage · 06/07/2026 19:25

In my line of work, I see too many women with breast implant illness or post-implant related cancer to champion implants.

Badbadbunny · 06/07/2026 19:27

I was same size 32B. Not particularly happy, but there's no way I'd go through surgery (however simple) for something not actually necessary. Too much hassle and too much risk. I do everything in my power to avoid doctors/hospitals as I'm very risk averse having had relatives suffer lots of hospital acquired infections and one suffering a botched surgery (pure incompetence). But it's down to the person and if the OP is unhappy enough to take a risk, then they should go for it.

wishfulthinking25 · 06/07/2026 19:28

I’d just buy a good push up bra tbh

somethingnewandexciting · 06/07/2026 19:32

I had mine done a few years ago (mid 40s) and have had no issues at all. I had a friend make out I was doing it for men and spread gossip which made me realise that even though we think we are progressive as a society, the stigmas for women doing what they want/wearing what they want with their own body still seem impossible for other women not to comment on. Not a single man has seen them in the 5 years since I had them done, so no, they were for me. I feel clothes hang better now and the more balanced shape means I am not at all conscious of my tummy because the material doesn't cling there on T shirts any more. I say go for it and don't let all the bossy women here who think they are being feminists talk you out of something if you know it will make you happy - they can't see that some of us aren't harlets looking for male attention. If a man told you he would find you repulsive they'd be up in arms no doubt, but it wouldn't have changed my mind either. I'd go for a free consult and get the full facts and think it over.

sunshine244 · 06/07/2026 19:32

What age are you? I've been 32A all my life (apart from being bigger when breastfeeding) and hated it. I also had an abusive relationship and it's affected my confidence a lot. I'm 5'3 and always been size 6-8 which I hated.

But now I'm mid 40s perimenopause I've I've put on fat on my.hips and my breasts have grown to 33D. I'm really happy with my figure now. Although it's possibly also to do with eating more now I'm no longer in an abusive relationship. Stress always affected my appetite.

If you are 40s+ something to consider- one way or another your body is likely to change.

changedusername190 · 06/07/2026 19:36

I’m not sure why people want really big boobs. The bras are ugly and uncomfortable and it’s not that easy to dress without looking like Mrs Doughtfire.

sauvignonplonk1 · 06/07/2026 19:37

I had a boob job after 4 kids then had them removed (after 14 years) and had a lift and fat transfer. Delighted with my new smaller boobs. Have a look at BII (breast implant illness) before you make a decision. If’s real - I feel so much better without those toxic bags poisoning my body. Anyway, small boobs and the athletic physique are fashionable right now….love yourself 🩷

Heckinhackedoff · 06/07/2026 18:52

Ack I'm honestly beginning to have second thoughts. I think when I thought about it in my head for the last year it just made sense that it was the right thing to do. Loads of my friends have had them done and are so pleased with them I thought why not me as well. I read people's views on other sites and mostly all positive. Yet reading this thread and all of the little complaints people have I think would really annoy me, and I'd end up insecure about the implants (knowing me).

I also think it is in large part something im better off mentally working through, but after having been through so much I just wanted a bit of space from mental processing and to cop out on the easy option. Sounds stupid because it is, but it's what I actually was thinking. Now I just don't know.

I'm not trying to persuade you one way or another but the perspective of someone who has always had massive boobs and doesn't like them isn't really the same thing as someone who has had them done. For loads of reasons. One is choice. The other is aesthetics - fake ones don't sag. And finally unless you go insane and get like a FFFGGG cup or something fake ones aren't heavy and don't hurt your back. It's not the same. I don't even wear a bra half the time as they stay up on their own.

thisandthats · 06/07/2026 19:42

I've noticed like 75% of comments on this thread aren't actually answering the question. OP has asked for experiences (good and bad) of people who have had a boob job.

Most responses are either -

  • don't get one
  • I would never get one
  • I have big boobs and would never get one
  • I have small boobs and would never get one

Reign your necks in ladies. She wasn't asking for a general public consultation on the concept of breast surgery. She was asking for experiences.

PinkEasterbunny · 06/07/2026 18:29

Where on earth did you get the cancer ‘fact’ from?

The Guardian. However I see other articles say otherwise. Implants are linked to a rare type of immune system cancer called BIA-ALCL (Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma).

Either way they’re not healthy.

LindorDoubleChoc · 06/07/2026 19:45

Not an AIBU question.

Yes, guilty. However having been obsessed with the size of my small boobs when I was a lot younger, I thought it was worth thinking about the benefit to weigh up against the risks.

I couldnt agree more. It is like those amazon reviews that say I haven't opened it yet. Literally what is the point? Unless its just to be a supercilious cow.

Yogafiend · 06/07/2026 19:51

I am having mine done. Not bigger - I am a 30/32 D/DD - but having them lifted. After having 3 kids (and age) it’s time. What I would say is pick your surgeon very very carefully. It’s so important. Someone reputable and don’t pick cheap - that’s the worse you can do. Do extensive research.

Illegally18 · 06/07/2026 19:53

Spidey66 · 06/07/2026 17:10

i have big boobs naturally and I hate them. They make me look even fatter than I am and I find it hard to find clothes that suit me. Bras for bigger women are ugly and harder to find. When I was younger I found men were often more interested in my boobs than me.

i hope I don’t come across as judgmental but for the life of me I don’t understand why women want bigger boobs.

Oh I so understand where you,re coming from. Big boobs are hell.
