Neighbours.

It really baffles me that neighbours who live with only a fence between gardens stand in their garden swearing, threatening their kids and smoking weed without a single thought of how embarrassing that behaviour is and how disgusting it is for the neighbours to have to put up with. I just don't see how anyone can not be aware of how loud and inappropriate they are and not feel shame about it. Absolutely baffled.

If someone is brought up a certain way then they are likely to think that is normal and its the others who are being difficult

I agree. We have a kid that visits and is dumped outside to play. The area gets trashed. The parent picks up the kid then just blithely drives off seemingly oblivious to all the litter and trash he has caused. I just assume that’s what they come from so it’s standard to them

Slightly different scenario, but I overheard a man effing and c’ing on the phone today, loudly, in the supermarket.

I guess that’s fine in his world, but it seemed wildly out of place in the porridge aisle.

So your not unreasonable here Op, but some people just do not care.

well if they are threatening their kids report it to social services. If they are doing that in public who knows what they are capable of doing in.private.

Well we all have a duty of care, and no child should have to live with that. Poor kids having that as their moral compass and how awful to grow up in.

They’re likely totally oblivious that anyone can hear them and unlikely to be self aware enough to have a “public” face and “private” face.

Who is voting you’re being unreasonable here? 😳

Oh god not ANOTHER Neighbour thread this is the ten billionth this week.

Some people are just loud people. I’ve got one of them in my family! But I do wonder if some people think no one can hear them because they don’t hear much from their neighbours and therefore think sound doesn’t travel far. That’s what I assume when I hear my NDN as the rest of us neighbours don’t bellow in the garden 🙈

Oh god not ANOTHER Neighbour thread this is the ten billionth this week.

I think it's because it is finally warm enough to open doors and windows. My nasty neighbour is just awful and there's a tirade of abuse at his mum who owns the house he lives in. He swears and shouts at her until she drives off and then stands in the garden shouting about how we should all mind our own business. I would LOVE to be able to never hear his voice again tbh. He seems to think that ranting in his garden is private when in fact the whole side of the street can hear him. He has zero shame.
