Bums hanging out of the bottom of teeny tiny shorts

Don’t know if this really AIBU or a question!
AIBU to think that shorts have become way too short ?
I have seen a LOT of girls in shorts today - with their bum cheeks hanging out the bottom ! Personally I wouldn’t let my daughter out like that. And I wouldn’t were them myself (I would give everyone nightmares !).
so what’s the consensus on bums hanging out of shorts ?

Each to their own, women should be able to wear whatever they want.

It makes me uncomfortable when its kids and pre teens. Our local school hasn't banned them for some reason and when I'm driving to or from work I'm met with a lot of underage bum cheeks.

But thats more of a parenting issue than anything else

Is it ok for men to wear whatever they want too? Even if they decide they'd like to share those parts of their bodies with the general public?

I’m questioning the double standards here, not my likes and dislikes.

OK do you agree that men should be able to display as much of their backside and genitals as women in public then?

What a weird take.Have you missed that the post I was responding to was espousing a double standard?

I don't like it, no need for everyone to see your arse, same with topless men, put it away

Theres usually signs in shops and pubs etc about topless men, men having to wear shirts/t shirts whatever

You never see the same messages solely aimed at women.

I have personally never ever seen a woman totally topless on the high street or city centre on a hot day (though I have seen the arses out thing that makes Daisy Dukes look like a kimono). I guess once it becomes an issue, shops and pubs will address it.

SwatTheTwit · Today 11:41

I don’t like it but I think they just look really out of place where I live. I see them as more of a seaside/beach day outfit.

Saying that I’ve seen highschoolers roll up their skirts just as short. No one needs to see your tights gusset.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · Today 11:50

I’ve seen a lot of young girls in teeny tiny shorts in our town centre recently. I can’t say I would ever have wanted dds to dress like that, but if the girls are very young and very slim - as TBH most of those I’ve seen are - I don’t think it looks too bad,

Call me fat shaming if you like, but IMO fat girls dressing like this should be
very tactfully advised to wear something more flattering.

henlake7 · Today 11:50

It doesnt really bothered me....I think its coz those teeny shorts just remind me of the PE pants we were forced to wear at school (esp black shorts).
I cant imagine a less sexy item of clothing!😆

I have never come across a topless woman who has her breasts out anywhere but the beach.
Shops shouldn’t have to display the sign, it should be crime to walk around topless, including while driving a van.

For the same reason that we feel it's ok to criticise what men wear, or don't wear....

According to one PP upthread apparently the reason women dress like this is : men : so we're not really criticising women at all.

True. I would NOT want to be following a man up the tube escalator whose hairy butt cheeks were in my face (as I did with a girl’s bum cheeks in my face whilst leaving the tube yesterday).

Why did you get so close? Why not leave a few steps empty?

She obviously did leave a few steps empty or the wouldnt have been arse to face. Are you seriously suggesting that we should leave half escalator modesty gaps now? How about those with their arses on display use the lift?

If she had left a few steps clear, her face wouldn’t have been in a girl’s butt cheeks.

That doesn’t need half an escalator’s space.

That will do a wonder for the congestion in the tube, eh? If every traveller leaves a gap of of 10 steps on all escalators and stairwells in the tube.

lightseeker · Today 12:49

It's really not a good look and I don't know why shops are selling these shorts. It's not even flattering for the slimmest person with super-toned slim thighs but, my god, I've seen some sights around London these last few weeks. Tight denim micro shorts like this aren't even comfortable for women whose legs are rubbing together. They're waddling along - why? It just looks awful, sorry.

SummerPunch · Today 12:52

I saw people walking along the beach esplanade in thong bikinis. They looked like they had bare bums. It looked silly

I am not offended, just digusted with the implications of the question.

And on a public forum anyone can answer, you must be new to this.

Disgusted? 😂 what on earth for?

You must be new to this. I think you need a lie down. What's wrong with asking if someone else (not you) if you're attracted to a group of people or not? I didn't even ask you yet you decided to get terminally offended disgusted.

PinkPonyCIub · Today 13:50

LittleWaterRabbit · Yesterday 23:30

But these people are wearing them out and about town, you dont wear them to do shopping or get on the train, or do you?

No, I literally meant no different to wearing bikini bottoms out! Sorry I wasn't clear! I didn't word it well!
I should have said they might as well wear bikini bottoms as there's less on show 😂
It must be a thing as I saw a load of school leavers, and they ALL had them on!

It may be because I’m ND but I wouldn’t even register that. Many of you need to work on a more exciting existence to spare yourself the pearl clutching

The whole point of these shorts is to get people to look.

And then complain indignantly when they do.

Om83 · Today 14:06

I completely agree, but when I took my 13 yr old shopping recently to a big town with major high street shopping chains, all the shorts are v short. It was very difficult to find something even half decent, and she certainly wasn’t going to entertain me taking her into M&S or similar to shop for her in there!!

so I think it is the fact that this is all the shops for that age group seem to be selling as the reason why there are so many girls wearing teeny shorts right now. And spirals as then all the other girls follow the trend of showing off their bum cheeks 🫣

To be fair, I'm not sure it's the wearers who are complaining.

We have teleported back to Victorian times…

This thread is sad. I have never worn revealing clothes but anyone has the right to do so if they want. Telling your daughters that they will be judged and catcalled is so bloody disgusting. And laughing about schoolgirls being told they are tarty is insane.

Depends who is noticing and appreciating it. If it's the right kind of man they'll be flattered and delighted. If it's the wrong kind of man they'll be appalled at being sexually objectified. And therein lies the problem. All types of men will notice. Not just the ones you wanted to.

I wonder how you know so much about it.
