Ds3 has had a cough for about 2 weeks now. Initially she was very unwell with it. GP sent her to hospital as she had a wheeze on her chest and was being sick. Nebulisers calmed it and she was given an inhaler to bring home but her chest has remained clear since. She is fine within herself now, eating and playing and going to pre school. But the cough is lingering and is especially bad at night. She will do two or three really harsh, barky sounding coughs then stop. Then do it again a few minutes later and this can go on for quite some time. It’s disturbing her sleep (and mine!)
Is this typical post virus? They think the wheeze was brought about by the virus (likely rhinovirus). But I’m concerned about asthma now and wondering if this is normal. She certainly doesn’t seem ill anymore but the cough does sound nasty at night time. Any ideas? Internet seems to suggest it can be normal for coughs to linger for up to 6 weeks but usually she overcomes it by now.
