About Netflix changes

AIBU to think Netflix’s new changes are unreasonable? Tried to go into my profile to check if a certain show was on Netflix. It now wants separate emails and logins for every profile. It won’t let me into my profile until I set this up. So we can’t just quickly switch profiles anymore. Has anyone else had to deal with this yet and has anyone been able to set up all the profiles with the same username and password? Do we really have to log in all over again every time just to switch profiles between DH and I? Really confused! One of our profiles is just French language content so we don’t have a separate email address we could even use for that! If it’s about age restriction why couldn’t they have just had a PIN like Disney and Iplayer?

I don't understand? We have 5 profiles on ours and don't have this problem. We can dip in and out of profiles as we like. Otherwise it would mean constantly logging in on the TV when one of us wants to watch a show we're in the middle of.

Yes that’s what ours was like until this afternoon.

I wondered why DD had to log in with her email last week to her profile. I got a bit of a shock when I got notified telling me there was a new email attached to my account and my immediate thought was scammers!

IAmKerplunk · 22/06/2026 20:07

I’ve just gone on to my Netflix and nothing has changed at all. I can go into all our profiles

Thanks! Not just me then! What a faff! I can’t see any way to opt out now it’s decided we need to do it.

Ah having issues with log in for Netflix too. Darn we have profiles for myself husband teenage daughter and son so will be a pain to change all the time !!

SquigglePigs · 22/06/2026 20:27

I've been on Netflix a couple of times today and haven't been asked.

Most odd! Hope we don't as 7 yr old DD doesn't have an email address!!

BedknobsNoBroomsticks · 22/06/2026 20:34

One of my adult children were asked to provide their email address on my account. This was a week or so ago. Nothing has changed, we can switch between profiles without signing in every time.
I havent been asked to provide email addresses for anyone else on my account.

Oxo01 · 22/06/2026 20:38

Call them up and ask why or is there a opt out choice.

Keepoffmyartichokes · 22/06/2026 20:41

Everyone who has been asked to login, is the device at home at the time or is it your phone/tablet and you are out and about?

Just seen this. At home but DD has a TV in her bedroom.

Seems like this is some new Netflix thing slowly being rolled out. Supposedly to do with user’s autonomy, but more likely a data grub for extra email addresses etc….No idea how
it will work with those who have kids on their account! I can see Netflix changing their minds because there already appears to have been a ton of complaints about this.

RedRiverShore6 · 24/06/2026 12:31

Something has changed, I just had a look at Netflix on my iMac which I have been into before and when I clicked my profile it said it wasn't part of my Netflix household but I could watch temporarily but had my email as signed in??. Fortunately only me really watches it and on the odd occasion DH wants to he can use my profile. It was normal for me on the TV where I usually watch it.

RedRiverShore6 · 24/06/2026 13:01

To watch it on my iMac which I couldn't get into the account, iMac is a permanent fixture always connected to home internet, I had to request a temporary code to be allowed to watch it for two weeks on that device that they think I am taking on holiday. There was no other way I could log in to it

Pixiedust1234 · 24/06/2026 14:03

Thanks RedRiverShore6

I can't see them rolling it back but I am very surprised the main account holder wasn't notified/warned first. I only knew about it when I had one of those heart stopping OhNoIveBeenScammed email saying another email was linked. I had no chance at vetoing it and yet it's my money paying for it.

Justanopinionnothingmore · 24/06/2026 14:07

Edit: never mind it's come back at me this time.

PinkNBlueBunnies · 24/06/2026 14:24

Just an update, the kids accounts on the TV seem ok for now. I was on the ipad when it did it. We haven’t tried the adult accounts on the tv since I first posted but tbh if it turns out to be a giant nuisance we’ll just cancel. We’ve had it since it was Lovefilm and weathered countless price increases but we watch more Disney Plus these days anyway and I feel like it’s not worth all the faff for the content that’s on there that we haven’t already watched.

I share a Netflix account with my DS. Originally we switched between profiles. Then it booted me out and made me set up another profile. Now he can see both his and my old profile. And I can only see my new one.

RedRiverShore6 · 24/06/2026 15:41

I've deleted DH's profile and one called 'kids' that I didn't set up anyway, DH has never used his, probably don't know its there and only ever watched Netflix if I watch it, I doubt he knows where the app is. So there is only me on it now so I shouldn't be bothered by any of this stuff hopefully
