Problems getting NI number

With DS it was sent a couple of months before his birthday. With DD they sent a form asking if her name was spelt correctly - it wasn’t so I sent back the form. Heard nothing.

called up and went through all the details and they said they would send it out. Just received another form asking for previous addresses etc etc.

all paper forms of course - nothing digital.

has anyone else had this? I’m wondering if it’s because I never claimed child benefit for her so she’s not on the right system?

really frustrating as it looks like she’s picked up a summer job and would be good to have it!!

Yes it'll be because you didn't claim child benefit for her
Did she ever have a child trust fund or was that before she was born? If so, the unique reference on that is her NI number

Oh really? Yes she did have the CTF bill ask DH to have a look

oh no this is my fear as I never did any of the child benefit stuff for my kids as I didn’t think it was worth it (ie we’re not eligible) and I read after the event NI was triggered by this. Seems crazy tho?
