Help with settlement agreement

DH has been offered a settlement agreement at work (long story behind it, won’t go into it unless needed!). He’s getting legal advice but I wanted to canvas opinions on what he should ask for and what he’s likely to get. His salary is around £90k with a 15% bonus and he’s on a three month notice period. He’s been offered three months salary and a £10k ex gratia payment (tax free). I think he should ask for nine months, plus bonus plus the £10k in the hope they’ll settle somewhere in the middle. Has anyone negotiated a similar settlement before??

How long has he been there? And what is the settlement for - has he been made redundant or is it more complex than that?

It honestly depends on what the settlement is for? If like above it’s for redundancy then 3 months I think is enough. If it’s for a life changing accident or similar etc then push for more

How long has he been there? Why is he being let go? Both play into whether 3 months pay with no need to work notice plus £10k is a good deal. If the relationship has broken down and he’s only been there less than 2 years then it’s decent, if he’s been there 10 years it’s not so good
