"Race-based pogrom" and "huge act of self-harm by mindless idiots who are actually only damaging their own futures".

Northern Ireland's First Minister Michelle O'Neill says "groups of masked men" were "burning families out of their homes"

One pastor in north Belfast says black people's homes were targeted, while an MP tells the BBC there was a "race-based pogrom"

The PSNI Chief Constable Jon Boutcher says the violent disorder in Belfast was a "huge act of self-harm by mindless idiots who are actually only damaging their own futures".

I agree with all the quotes. Sick of mindless racist thugs and their 'protests', where they look like they are enjoying themselves while they commit violence and set fire to things.

Homes set on fire in Belfast night of violence as MP says people targeted based on skin colour - follow live

On one street, hundreds of masked men carrying bottles and bricks set bins on fire and shouted "foreigners out", our reporter says.

I've said multiple times I don't support THE action but I support something being done.

Yet you can’t specify what it is you support.

OneCoralGoose · 10/06/2026 17:34

likelysuspect · 10/06/2026 17:31

What action taken would you support that you referenced then?

You said action being taken in their communities, what is that?

These people hate everyone who is not them. They kill white repubicans just as quick as the non nationals they attacked last night. My accent would get me attacked on falls road quicker than someone of a different colour.

If you're educated enough to read I said I don't support firebombing houses.

But people like you are part of the problem.

People supporting these riots are a bigger part of the problem.

Doing something,? You mean violence, property damage, scaring and assaulting people

CrowFeathers · 10/06/2026 17:38

Hey, @dartmoordays and @Purplerocket, this is what your nested quote discussion looks like to many others.

It’s annoying. Fifteen plus nested quotes, most unreadable. Probably more by now.

If I was able to attend a protest in my nearest city then I would but I work very long hours in order to pay tax for illegal migrants.

Unfortunately your tax bill is about to get higher to pay for the damage, destruction of infrastructure. Increased policing, justice and prison costs. Not to mention the loss to the economy and jobs. Oh and the immediate need for emergency housing.

And that's before we get to the human cost. Traumatised kids, stunned, poorer adults, ruined businesses. Pain and suffering all around.

But just for me, not for thee?Hmm

The UK has no open borders

But continue to use immigration to justify the riots and violence. Egged on by tommy robinson from the safety of Russia.

No but it has boarders that are leaky!

It's sad that there is massive targeting of certain people.

But when huge swathes of the country feel unlistened to by the people in power. When loads of young people are excluded from further education (16% of white working class boys as compared to 32% of black working class boys) and nothing is being done to address it.

When for 20 years there were open boarders for European migration, surpressing wages and job opportunities at the lower paid level and there was a massive vote against that, the people who voted were called stupid and uneducated for affecting the lives of the middle classes.

When police, social workers, the government ignored massive sexual abuse of white children and tried to deflect the enquiry into it

When people celebrating their culture, or their flag or their patron saint are declared racist....siting the little girl sent home from school and banned from talking about being English.

Therefore, given the above, why are you surprised that there are stupid riots?

Yep, just listening to reports from Belfast now businesses restaurants etc closing early every tourist will likely be on trains to Dublin and once again Belfast tourism industry effected. It is a fantastic vibrant young city being dragged backwards constantly by these violent racist thugs

The UK has many miles of coast. If you rock up on said coast it is pretty unlikely that you will be removed - amounting to an open border.

https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/immigration-system-statistics-year-ending-june-2025/how-many-people-are-returned-from-the-uk

Quote from Government website above:

Data on returns relates to year ending June 2025 and all comparisons are with year ending June 2024 (unless indicated otherwise).
6.1 Small boat returns
Small boat returns have increased since 2018 but have fallen in the latest year.
In the year ending June 2025, there were 2,330 returns of people who had arrived by small boat, 7% fewer than the previous year.
Of the small boat returns in the latest year, 75% were of Albanian nationals (Figure 5). Turkish and Iraqi nationals are the two next most common nationalities, together accounting for 12% of small boat returns.
A total of 6,313 people who arrived on a small boat between 2018 and the year ending June 2025 have been returned from the UK, representing 4% of the total number of small boat arrivals over the same period.

https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/immigration-system-statistics-year-ending-march-2026/how-many-people-are-returned-from-the-uk
This release goes up to the year ending (YE) March 2026. The “year ending” period includes the 12 months up to and including the YE month. For example, YE March 2026 includes the 12 months between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026.

In the YE March 2026, there were 2,750 returns of people who had arrived to the UK by small boat, 16% more than the previous year. This increase is partially due to the UK-France Agreement on the prevention of dangerous journeys which came into effect in August 2025 following the signing of a treaty by the UK and French Interior Ministers. This treaty enables the return of arrivals from the UK to France, with an equal number of individuals eligible to come to the UK through a new legal route.
A total of 8,427 people who arrived on a small boat between 2018 and the YE March 2026 have been returned from the UK.
END QUOTE

The report also states:
Afghan and Sudanese nationals were the second and third most common nationalities respectively arriving to the UK by small boat in the YE March 2026. However, returns to both countries are currently on hold. Iran (the fourth most common small boat arrival nationality over the same period) and Syria are currently not accepting enforced returns. See Home Office ‘Country returns guides’ for more information on the returns process for individual countries of origin. Despite this, 128 Afghan nationals and 93 Syrian nationals arriving by small boat with no right to be in the UK were returned in the YE March 2026.

.....So basically if you arrive on our coast from Afganistan or Sudan you are not going anywhere. An open border.

How many people are returned from the UK?

surprised that there are stupid riots

Stupid riots that have left 27 people homeless and 21 attempted murder investigations, schools and businesses closed etc. and targeted attacks on ethnic minorities, none of what you've posted justifies this level of violence.

The worst part is that these thugs and people who think like them represent a minority of the population and yet politicians and the media always fall over themselves to pander to these idiots.
They cannot keep being allowed to drive the direction of the country. It needs to be stopped.

Don't you dare. The people behind this are focussed on immigrants because it's no longer socially acceptable to focus on fenians. May I remind you of 'any taig will do'. The people burning gliders will be burning tricolours in a months time.

DuncinToffee · 10/06/2026 17:48

The UK asylum costs currently represent around 0.5% of total government spending.

And under UN rules, that can be redirected from foreign aid budgets. And that is what they do.

The Home office pay for anything UK asylum related. And the money is taken from the overseas aid budget. So if every asylum seeker vanished tomorrow, it would make no difference to UK spending at all. The UN mandates countries spend 0.7% GDP on overseas aid. In the UK, that is a legal requirement since 2015. So any money saved by deporting every asylum seeker would go straight into aid. Where it is re-directed from.

That’s literally true for almost all countries. Miles of unattended territory where the border actually is, many on land rather than by sea.

Are you suggesting all countries have open borders ?

Im not sure I understand your post. The falls road is a republican area of Belfast. You're right that the rioters would kill a white republican just as quick as a non national, but are you saying republicans would do the same. Because I think there's very little evidence of that, compared with the rioting and flag burning we see every year from loyalists and endorsed by their leaders.

Sadly, Dublin's population isn't 100% Fenians (who, by the way, can be of any race or nationality).

The anti immigrants in Dublin may be Irish, but they're certainly not republicans (ie Fenians).
