Bleeding

Im currently ovulating, almost nearing the end I believe, and ive had to use a sanitary towel because of bleeding. Its not heavy but more like the last day or so of your period, quite light but a lot more than the odd spotting that I would normally get. Ive noticed a pattern that when I exercise, I spot very lightly. I did a small short workout on sunday and had slight spotting after, no spotting on monday but have been bleeding throughout the day today with minor back ache. Ive got an appointment with the doctor tomorrow but im beside myself with worry that there's something wrong with me, especially as I dont feel good within myself but again that could be anxiety. Does anyone have a clue what could be causing the bleeding?

Are your smear tests up to date? If not, get it booked.

YourHeartyFatball · 09/06/2026 17:33

And any unusual bleeding needs to be checked out.

Yes I've been every time they've sent for me. They've all been fine

It’s good to get it checked, but spotting around the time of ovulation can be normal due to hormone fluctuations.

tiramisugelato · 09/06/2026 18:00

I bleed during ovulation most months, it's normal for many women BUT if it's not normal for you then you need to see a doctor.

Do you ever require a sanitary product because of the bleeding?

Yep, unfortunately!

What time are we talking? Do you have a 28-day cycle and you're bleeding on day 14 (ovulation day)? Or is it more like day 21? I'd be less concerned about a period a week early than two weeks, as cycle lengths can fluctuate month to month

Im due my period in 13 days. My cycles vary from 26 to 28 days

Yep, several times - eventually I was diagnosed with PCOS.

Could be a possibility, especially with other symptoms I have!

It took me years to get any answers, I've been back and forth to the GP about my periods and bleeding since I was about 16 and only got a diagnosis at 35 despite multiple scans and blood tests Hmm

How frustrating! Im glad you finally got answers. To he honest im expecting the same, I have already been to my doctor about bleeding during ovulation, she just sent me for blood tests and that was that, a prescription for vitamin D supplements and iron tablets and left me to it

Honestly even if you get a diagnosis don't expect it to make any difference, lol. I just got given naproxen for pain and then told that as I don't want kids there's nothing else they can do and basically told me to bugger off.

I think it would just put my mind to rest knowing it isnt anything more sinister. I shall see what the doctor decides to do tomorrow!
