Ugly feet should be hidden?

I have really ugly feet, bunions, wonky toes, just horrid, I'm mid forties and never wear another shoes my feet as I'm so aware of how unattractive they are but actually it's frustrating every year trying to find footwear for when it's warm, I envy those with flip flops thrown on with shorts or a dress or those with Birkenstock and a dress so should I wear whatever regardless of how ugly my feet are? Like who actually would notice my wonky toes? Would anyone care ? Or comment if they saw my ugly feet?

Well, this post has led me down an internet rabbit hole, wasting time looking at photos of celebrities with bunions, when I really should be getting ready for work.

Haha to be honest, there are much worse rabbit holes to fall down! Loving people googling Kate Middleton’s toenails too.

I think people get curious about feet more in colder climates like ours because people rarely have them out.

I’ll be honest and say I don’t think my feet are ugly. Size 5, short straight toes, no bunions, no infections. I apply a heavy duty emollient cream every day as they can be a bit dry. I don’t really notice other people’s feet though.

Including the men?

well, if they don’t want to wear closed toed shoes then yes.

If it's about the OP, then why the need to pass judgement on others? It's just so unnecessary.

but that's life?

I know many people DO notice and judge, or have an opinion. Other people don't care.

What's the point of lying to the OP? If someone has feet that look neglected, it gives the impression that they neglect themself full stop - don't wash enough and don't take care of themselves.

If feel are clean and looked after, it's a non-story

If I see someone in recovery flip flops, with a plaster or 2, I'd be thinking: someone had a long run yesterday 😂

many of my male friends have regular pedicure. Being a man is no excuse to have manky feet, and dry skin and unkept nails. It's just maintenance.

Feet are not attractive as such but a man who is clean and take care of himself (and his house while we are at it) is attractive. Being an unwashed slob is not interesting, sorry.

But yourself a pair of sandals. My toes look like fingers. I can pick things up with them, my feet are not a pretty sight. I couldn’t care less about my own feet or anyone else’s feet.

@Specialneedsnightmarewhat was the op and recovery like? I really need to do this but keep putting it off. 3 young kids, school runs, clubs etc. No idea how it would work if recovery goes on for months and months!

It really isn't that bad. The first two weeks is harder as you need to stay off the foot. I had an indoor wheelchair as I live on my own. I had one foot done at a time and one was a lot more painful than the other, strangely not the foot that had the worst bunion! If you can get through the first two weeks it will be fine. Within 3 months I was driving again.

I have damaged feet that are ugly. I’m self conscious about them and in the summer I wear Bjorgk sandals. They can make your feet sweaty but they also cover them up and are very cushioned. In winter I just wear my NHS shoes that look nice herring boxes but do the job.

Thanks very much this is reassuring. Sorry to hijack thread, but would you recommend both feet at same time? I feel I'd just want it all over asap!

LilyCanna · Today 12:22

I’m the opposite of a lot of people on this thread because summer is the time I feel good about my feet! They are wide with big toes that don’t curve in at all and toes spaced out. All very healthy but in order to be comfortable I have to wear extra wide trainers or DMs. But in summer I can wear extra wide sandals which are more comfortable than shoes and actually go with pretty dresses without making me like a clumpy hobbit.

Me either, but I also don't want anyone to be repelled by them. The same goes for all my body parts!

No i honestly wouldnt. One foot at a time is usually recommended for a reason. The pain can be very intense for the first two weeks and it would be a lot worse with two. My surgeon did my feet a month apart.
