To try and lose a stone in 12 weeks?

Well, 11 weeks and 4 days

I’m off on holiday for the first time after a huge weight loss. I’m still about three stone from my goal weight and after a huge loss in 18 months, it has really slowed down. I’ve only lost a stone so far this year.

I’ve felt really demotivated and basically been eating at maintenance for the last three months, if not longer.

I really want to get to a place where I’m exercising regularly because I know it makes me feel good, and eating well adds to that too. But every time I try to get back on the wagon I fail.

I’ve come back to the gym for the first time in a month tonight, AIBU to set myself this goal or am I just setting myself up to fail? I’m currently 15 stone 10, and would love to be 14 stone 10 by the time I go away.

If your aim is to move more - look at online workouts too - yoga as well as weights/cardio.
Anything you think you’ll enjoy and can stick to. What do you like doing ? I sometimes need classes for motivation and essentially someone shouting at me what to do.

Something that takes the thinking away so I can just get on with it!

Can you commit to x gym/classes a week. X 15 minutes walks or steps a day? Would joining up with a friend work or joining a walking group?

Totally doable and that's a lovely 12 week goal to motivate you. I would measure yourself all over though. Waist, bust, thighs, calves, upper arms. Sometimes the scales look stubborn but you are shedding inches, just building muscle and then you weirdly lose a stack of weight on the scales very quickly. It's easy to lose heart when the scales aren't shifting but if you ramp up the exercise and watch the treats and rose over the summer you could be heading off in September significantly trimmer and quite possibly more than a stone gone.

Obviously I’m aware food is the most important thing, I’m in a calorie deficit and I know in theory that’d be enough but for me the moving part is really important

set a target of 11 to 12,000 steps a day
making most of them FAST walk, not a leisurely stroll

Reach your steps target every single day without fail, and that will help.

Everyone should reach that level of activity regardless of weight loss anyway, we're not designed to be sedentary.

Weigh in one - from 15 stone 10.2 to 15 stone 9.5, in a couple days. Behind on progress already 😕
