Why am I getting pervy adverts throughout the threads I'm reading? Mumsnet, why are you taking revenue from advertising chats and 'watching'(!!!) with young girls? Can you get rid of them please?

Aren’t ads based on your household or individual device browsing history (based on your settings)?

All I get is advertisements for Boots sunglasses and Argos gaming gifts which are both things I’ve recently searched for.

Everyone always says this, and yes, adverts CAN be influenced by your browsing history. But that doesn't mean that that's always the case.

In this case, these ads are showing up for loads of people on Mumsnet, there's a big thread in Site Stuff about it. So unless the Mumsnet user base have all started looking at porn suddenly, then thats unlikely to be the cause.

whippersnapper55 · 08/06/2026 13:40

There's a thread on Site Stuff about these ads - MNHQ keep trying to delete/stop them but it doesn't seem to be working!

AnonymityAnonymity · 08/06/2026 13:42

You aren't the only one to complain about this OP.
There are other threads on Site stuff and MN have supposed to have sorted this issue out.
Perhaps you should ask MN to move this thread to Site stuff.

Does anyone get the t.e.m.u ads with oddly shaped things that look like butt plugs and dildos? Browsing hx is clean as a whistle and have personalised ads off anyway, but they seem to happen every now and again for a day or two, and then disappear.

MrsPinkSky · 08/06/2026 13:48

Oh come on, give it a tiny bit of thought 🙄

This is an ongoing problem for MNHQ at the moment and they're working to fix it.

As if they're taking money for it 🤦‍♀️

Poor poppy, she just wants to be pals with you op!

😁 I can assure you this isn't based on my browsing history!

I do actually know why. This was more of a huff at Mumsnet HQ. And you'd have worked that out if you'd have given it a tiny bit of thought 🙄

Well they are (albeit indirectly) as it's advertising space. They don't give up real estate on their site for free

Your words ^^

Very silly and even sillier if you're now claiming you know there's a problem, they're not taking money and that they're trying to fix it.

You clearly don't understand what a rhetorical question is.
