about my next door neighbours. We moved in about 5 weeks ago and they have been nothing but snotty.

Ok so we live in a housing association house that is a new build while they bought theres. There house wasn't getting knocked down though was it.

Yes I have children they're 5 and 21 months they make noise, they also like to play in the garden at times. I'm very sorry that my family life encroaches on your single girl lifestyles but I don't appreciate the barbacues at 10pm when my kids are in bed but I don't say anything.

Yes I'm a SAHM while you go out to work at 8am every morning, no I don't sit on my arse all day I run around after my toddler (and mumsnet ). I would actually like to go back to work but have you seen the price of childcare? No you probably haven't because you don't have kids.

Rant over.

Is it you or the fact it's HA?

Surely they knew about the latter?

Can you not get to know them?

I don't think either a couple of kids or 10pm BBQs is the end of the world...

differentID · 23/06/2008 17:06

Ignore them, are there any other young families nearby?

savoycabbage · 23/06/2008 17:09

When we moved into the house we live in now we tried to avoid speaking to our neighbours because our last neighbours were total and utter bastards and the last thing that we wanted to do was 'get involved' with more neighbours.

But after a while we did to know them and we get on really well and live in the most friendly street.

First, that sure is a funny name

Second, I don't know what advice to offer you other than just come on here and rant away. At least we listen and you can let off steam.

For what it's worth, I have never ever understood why certain people think that owning their own home entitles them to mock and sneer at people who don't

TheProvincialLady · 23/06/2008 17:40

Are you are sure they are being snotty with you and not just completely disinterested? We moved from flats where everyone was friends with everyone, to a terrace where our next door neighbours answered the door like we were standing there with machetes. It wasn't personal though and they have defrosted somewhat, even if we are never going to be bosom buddies.

honeybehappy · 23/06/2008 17:50

I hate our neighbours, when we moved in dp saw the bloke and said hello and to please tell us if we are a bit noisy. We always say hello they don't bother.

I used to take parcels in but they never came to get them and never said thankyou when i took them round. So now we dont bother with that anymore.

They own their house but we rent ours so thats why we think they dont bother.

And they have the most annoying friends over every sunday night till nearly one o'clock in the morning, we are noisy like them in the day but fuck me they are so loud at night!Surley the know how thin the walls are.

We are moving in 3 weeks coz i can't stand it any longer. If you live in essex and drive a black car it could be you i'm talking about!!!!LOL

eenybeeny · 23/06/2008 17:58

OP I love your name too!!

and honeybehappy I have the exact same thing with my neighbours re parcels I refuse to take them in now as they never came to get them I always had to deliver them and then they acted annoyed that I knocked on their door???
