Starting the injection on the 15th of this month, due to go away the first week of September
I’m going with an endocrinologist monitoring it and following progress etc

I started Wegovy at age 49. I was a size 14, at 5ft 1.

In 5 months, I'd lost around three and a half stones, and was size 8.

That’s amazing, that would be ideal for me

I think you could get your BMI to within the normal range for sure.

Yes it is, I have pcos, endo, issues blood sugar etc

I have endo. I’ve found drinking nothing but water (no juices, no alcohol, no coffee) and an anti-inflammatory diet has done wonders for my weight. Along with regular swimming and incline walking.

Wishing you the best! I hope the injection works for you. Although it’s best not to have high expectations.

Zanatdy · Yesterday 18:23

increase your step count, that helps burn off calories and not too taxing. I’m sure you’ll lose a decent amount.

lostinchaos · Yesterday 18:23

I lost 3 stone in 3.5 months / 4 months and have pretty much maintained for 18 months now. I was only on mj for 4
months and never went above 5ml. So yes it is possible you will feel very slim by then, but it is not a silver bullet and you will need to make lots of lifestyle changes. I was lucky as I didn’t have many side effects… just tiredness and a bit of nausea… but I found the effects very strong in regards to food noise and i basically couldn’t finish a glass of wine. But what I did realise was that to lose weight I had to track every thing I ate and be very active. Maintaining is fine, but losing requires discipline and mj doesn’t do all the hard work for that.

Thank you! I don’t drink alcohol or juices really but do like a coffee in the morning

Age:48
Weight:Around 13 stone
Bmi: 28/29

Do you are around 5’7” and 83kg.

If we say slim is the middle of the healthy BMI range then that’s 22. To get to 22 you need to lose 20kg.

You can likely comfortably lose 1kg per week for the first month then half a kg for the remaining 8 weeks for a total of 8kg.

You’ll need another six months at that pace to hit that target, so nine months in total.

thesugarbumfairy · Yesterday 18:24

OP, no one can tell you the answer to that. They can only tell you their own experience.
The jabs may not agree with you and you might have to stop. The effects may not kick in for months or you may be a super-responder. Until you start, there is no way of knowing.

I am still not 'slim' after two years because I stopped losing weight in September. My body just doesn't want to. I maintain on about 1300 calories a day. Which is shit frankly. However prior to the plateau I lost about 6 stones. My BMI is now 26.3 which means I'm still technically overweight. I'm a size 12. Which is great. I'm very happy. But I'm not 'slim'.

The only realistic answer is 'you could be'
Good luck!

I’d be v happy to be back at size 12! Have gone up to 18, was size 8/10 in the past, really not comfortable at this weight

I started at 12st. I’d lost 1 st 6lbs in three months.

anon2022anon · Yesterday 18:34

Honestly, I doubt it.
I know there are outliers, but the people who seem to lose more than 2lb a week are those who go up the dosage quickly, and basically starve themselves.
1- you're under a consultant so hopefully they won't let you unless you need it
2- What's the point if youre not learning anything? It just increases the chance of it going back on again.

I've been on it since September, I'm at 3 stone off. At 2/3 months in I'd lost the puffiness, my clothes were looser and I looked a little slimmer, but not noticeable to any who knew me well.

But honestly, if you're going to do it, do it for changes to your life, not for one holiday.

daffodilandtulip · Yesterday 18:38

On 15th June 2024, I was 13st 7, BMI 36. On 6th Sept 2024, I was 11st 6, BMI 31.

I'm on wegovy, 7 weeks in and it's not been consistent for me. First week my appetite was worse than usual and I actually put on 1kg, 2nd and 3rd week I lost a total 3kg, 4th week I was ravenous again and upped my dosage week 5 after putting on 1kg again, which I lost last week. I keep asking AI why I'm not losing my appetite like others and it tells me that the first few months are about increasing the dosage to ensure you aren't suffering significant side effects, and some people (apparently me) don't experience the true appetite suppression on lower doses. I was desperate to lose it fast but I work full time and have 2 very full on children and family who need care too so I am struggling to find the time to do the rexommede exercise and the tiredness side effect is definitely there. Hopefully you see the weight drop off but it seems it's not linear and fast for everyone. I'm also probably perimenopausal and all of my weight gain has been in the last few years.

TheChosenTwo · Yesterday 20:02

I lost 3 stones in 3 month but started at 16st and switched overnight to a totally non processed and anti inflammatory diet. Also had knocked booze on a head a while before (for the most part anyway, I will still occasionally drink alcohol but very rarely).
Have insulin resistant PCOS and a whole host of other delightful gynae conditions which have all drastically improved since being on MJ tbh.
Good luck, you’ll definitely shift some weight between now and then and I think you’ll feel good about it too.
i certainly didn’t aim to shift the weight as quickly as I did but it really did just fall off very quickly as I went from eating far too many calories to just the right amount for what my body needed and more conducive to my conditions.

Ibi · Yesterday 20:06

I was 84kg 2yrs ago and am now 64kg. I am on the maximum dose.

hkavbebva · Yesterday 20:09

In 3 months I went from 25.1 to 22.3 on MJ, you’re probably being unrealistic, and I’d caution it’s not the right attitude to have. I’m sure you’ll look and feel much better in 3 months though.

hkavbebva · Yesterday 20:11

And be warned, from my experience at least, if you’re not focussing on strengthening and toning in conjunction with your loss you may find your destination weight does not look as slim as you were when you were last that weight. I’ve managed to get to my “ideal” weight for the first time in 5 years, honestly I’m a bit disappointed! I’m wobblier these days, so need to focus on exercise now (I want to do this for strength as well as for looks, but was focussed on diet to start with!).

durdledoris · Yesterday 20:14

I started at 14 stone 3 on 21st March and am now 12 stone 3 so def possible to drop a couple.of stone. Good luck op.

Daschy16 · Yesterday 20:17

I would say you are realistically looking at 1.5 stone loss in that time. That is assuming you don't abuse the injections and eat a reasonable calorie intake.
I have lost 8st on the injections in just under a year and a half. It has been a hard slog and at times I have felt like having binges. The injections do help me keep on track, but they are not a silver bullet- you need to put the work in and view it as a long term game- not a quick fix for a holiday in 2.5 months.

Aim for 1-2lbs a week, eat lots of protein, fruit and veg, and increase your movement.

Good luck!

perimenopoppet · Yesterday 20:31

From your weight and bmi I think we are about the same height and I started just a little bit higher bmi. In my first 2.5 months - which is about the timeframe you are asking I lost just over 2 stone and felt fantastic. Still overweight but a huge improvement - so no I don’t think you will be slim but much slimmer than now and in far better health and comfort by that stage. I went on holiday at the same stage last year and felt great, then lost the same again, am maintaining all of that loss and feel fantastic! Good luck - plenty high quality protein rich food, strength trialing and Pantene but it really doesn’t take all that long in the scheme of things. Averaging 1-2lb per week after a likely initial woosh is great.

So should I do weights? What else?

It sounds fantastic, I really hope I follow a similar path. Which foods did you eat and what exercise did/do you do?

When posting, it’s useful if you flesh your communication out a little.

Are you 48 years old with a bmi of 29?

If you are sticking to a calorie deficit I would expect to be losing around 1 or 2 lbs a week.

It’s quite obvious. A BMI of 48 would be getting craned out of your house levels of obesity
