To be annoyed when I post to a thread and my post goes in right at the bottom of the page?

Because I feel, rightly or wrongly, that posts at the bottom of the page are more likely to be missed?

Happy to be disagreed with!

As in post 10 of a page which only holds 10 posts?

Post 25 of a page which holds 25 posts!

YABU. The ones that appear above your post are because they’re either newer, or a recent comment on it has trigged it to refresh above yours.

its not a personal vendetta against your posts.

BillieWiper · 05/06/2026 13:34

Well presumably it's to incentivise people to comment on threads as soon as they come up. To be the one who people say 'first post nailed it'.

If it 450 other people have posted then yeah you'll be below them. That's how posting on things works, they go in chronological order. With the most recent at the end.

TheFairyCaravan · 05/06/2026 13:34

Eh? That’s where the newest posts go unless you flip the thread.

LadyLooo · 05/06/2026 13:34

Why bother with pages?

I just have one long page because I was fed up of going to the next one only to find the thread had been deleted.

When it gets near 1000 posts it does take a little longer to load but it's still better imo.

Conchiglie · 05/06/2026 13:35

I agree OP. Irritating!

WiddlinDiddlin · 05/06/2026 14:13

Yep people are more likely to skip the last post or two as they scroll down and click to the next page.

I think a lot of people haven't understood your post though!

The OP is irritated by her comment being the last comment on that particular page, not that the comments are in chronological order. So being the last post on page 1, 2, 3.. whatever, its more likely people will skip that as they tap the button for the next page of the thread.

trueredstart · 05/06/2026 14:15

Yep, but it's the luck of the draw. Pagination is infinitely better than load on scroll.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 05/06/2026 14:16

Do you mean at the end of all the posts on a thread, or that it's at the end of page 3 and everyone is now looking at page 4?

But someone's post has to be last on the page. That's just how forums work surely?

Katiesaidthat · 05/06/2026 14:19

I hate it when I answer a pp I´ve read on page 12 of 36 and it takes me to my own answer at the very end of the thread and I have to work my way back to page 12 to continue reading. Today it was Page 1,2, to 6 and then " ..." and 34,35 36. I couldn´t even click on the number directly and had to click a few times till 12 showed up.
I don´t want to read my own post, I wrote it two seconds ago.

Yes of course. OP is just saying that it's a bit annoying when it happens to you!

notnorman · 05/06/2026 15:15

How do you get pages? Mine is just one long scroll

5128gap · 05/06/2026 15:19

You could always post "I love lip filler" or "I take my dog into the M&S food hall" before making your comment, to get everyone's attention.
Or quote someone (at least one person will read it).
Or quote the whole OP. Or ask the OP a question that's already been answered in the OP. I guarantee you, no one will miss your post if you do that.

AuContrairePubicHair · 05/06/2026 15:23

I have my MN set to show 1000 posts per page, so this isn't something I've ever noticed or considered!

If you use the app it’s one long page

if you use the website it is spit into pages

EmeraldShamrock000 · 05/06/2026 15:30

You need a catchy title.

JillThePlantKiller · 05/06/2026 15:31

Me too, op 🤣 but I think WA(both)BU

FeliciaFancybottom · 05/06/2026 16:19

I can't even imagine noticing something like that.

FruAashild · 05/06/2026 16:26
  1. Each person can set up the page how they want it so some people have the most recent post at the top and some have it at the bottom
  2. If you bookmark posts before you reply to them you can then find them again easily
  3. You can set how many posts are on a page so you can either have all 1000 posts on a page or have multiple pages. It can sometimes get a bit buggy with the view everything option so I do have pages (old phone).
