Does anybody else dislike Pride?

We have one in our town for the second year running, and it's just really off.

Now before I get the "don't be homophobic comments" I am very much live and let live.

It's just that it can be very adult in the middle of the day.

You think it is appropriate for adults to parade round in front of children with dildos hanging out of their arses, @Brokentoes85? I don’t.

Not to mention that MAP try to associate themselves with Pride - Minor Attracted Persons (the sanitised name for paedophiles) consider themselves to be under the umbrella of Pride.

Doesn't really matter who thinks they're under the umbrella for pride. More important who it actually is for.

Map is a massively over egged example.

The LGBTQ+ community is incredibly invested in attracting young people because the vast majority of its members and adherents can't reproduce naturally to maintain their numbers, so they have to be able to recruit.

What a load of crap.
How do you even begin to unpack that load of conspiracy theorist shite?
"Maintain their numbers" - people who are gay or lesbian are just people, who may or not want to reproduce. Just like people who are straight.
Just being themselves. Not everything's about having babies.
It also insinuates that every single gay person knows each other in some way, in order to know what the "group think" is on being gay and what the "aim" of being gay is. How does that even begin to work?

Well, who is it actually for, in your view, considering the many times lesbian groups have been blocked or sidelined, and the increasing rejection of Pride by gay men feeling it no longer represents them?

Okay, you're right. To think otherwise would make you think all they gather under the LGBTQ+ banner....oh, wait.....

Agree, and same

Football clubs and football fans repudiate football violence. It is not celebrated within the football movement.

I dislike the fact that people are persecuted and bullied because of who they love more.

100% this

SorryWeAreClosed · 06/06/2026 20:28

Went to one in my 20s and thought it was a hoot. Went a few years ago and the women's tent had gone, replaced by a stage full of drag artists.

And pretty fucking sinister when gay people have been baselessly accused of paedophile tendencies for many years.

CapstanFullStrength · 06/06/2026 21:39

sweetpickle2 · 06/06/2026 09:55

And gay men are criminalised in over 60 countries. Neither group has achieved equality, but it's only Pride that people seem to think has had its day.

Post same sex marriage becoming enshrined in UK law, Stonewall turned it's focus on to the treatment of gay people in Uganda
Then came trans and they dropped Uganda like a stone (and folk like you lapped up the trans stuff having been pretty indifferent to the plight of gay Ugandans!)
You don't even need a long memory to know this stuff, assuming you've been an adult for a handful of years.

ETA: Oops. Er, no, they weren't.

Edited

Oh. Sorry, my misunderstanding!.

AlternateLook · 07/06/2026 10:32

Not gay people per se, but dangerous paedophiles have latched onto the LGBTQ+ movement and have hidden in plain sight there.

coulditbeme2323 · 05/06/2026 09:45

I am so pleased most people agree with me, the world has not gone mad!

That's why it's an event for minorities to claim their place and visibility 🏳️‍🌈

AlternateLook · 07/06/2026 19:15

Oxford Pride sure is inclusive ..

Does anybody else dislike Pride?
viques · 07/06/2026 20:40

StarlightLady · 05/06/2026 08:51

It’s an inclusive celebration of the freedom we are allowed and a reminder that, in some parts of the world, people risk imprisonment or even death for who they are. 🏳️‍🌈

You mean women in Afghanistan? Girls who take off their hijab in Iran? Oh sorry, I forgot , we have a whole day in March for International Women’s Day.

Aye, and those poor, hairy arsed men in dresses that are cruelly barred from women's bathrooms and changing rooms. Poor souls...

Oh please ...this is rubbish. Sexual offenders exists in all communities. . I think you'll find they've latched onto churches and families.

All this smug hate. As if it won't turn on wider groups when you release this hatred for difference. 🏳️‍🌈 Pathetic narrow mindedness

From how many Prides held? From how many people participating ?

To anyone who uses critical reasoning this post is embarrassing ...there are no communities where sexual offending doesn't occur

Shall we do a poster for ....say ...the Police??
The church??
Parliament??
Schools??

Anyahyacinth · 07/06/2026 23:10

AlternateLook · 07/06/2026 23:00

Really ..

I see this poster as a pathetic bullying of a minority community...extrapolating criminal behaviour to reflect the whole..this is called discrimination and prejudice...a belief so so old that queer folk are degenerate...straight to the camps, wear a pink triangle.

Never again is now isn’t it?

Sickening stuff 🤢

Yes, by all means whenever we discuss the police, church, Parliament, and schools.

SomeGarlic · 07/06/2026 23:21

Sexual offenders exist in all communities

This is such a cheap attitude. We generally try to stop them gaining positions of authority that would make their offending easier. We don't encourage them to display their fetishes in public, we don't applaud them for trying to attract young and vulnerable people to their sex-related activities, we don't shame or 'cancel' people for expressing unease about breakdowns in social boundaries.

TQIA++ organisations have not only disregarded past offences and disturbing behaviours from influential members, they've doubled down on supporting them while vilifying critics.

Yes, religious organisations did similar. Are you saying they were right?

Why does this remind me of the carefully collated screenshots of brown sex offenders that Tommy Robinson's followers post at every opportunity?
