If you are over forty and could take a pill that would reverse physical aging by twenty or thirty years, would you take it?

My question is purely theoretical, for fun and out of curiosity as obviously such technologies don't currently exist (although with advancements in AI some of them seem to be on the horizon). I have been surprised by how many friends have eagerly jumped on the GLP1 drugs for weight loss and how successful they have been so this has made me ponder how people would respond to such an anti-aging pill.

If you are forty or over and a pill existed which you could take that would reverse physical aging over a number of months (both internally and on a vanity/skin level) by twenty to thirty years, so you looked like a younger version of yourself, would you take it?

I absolutely would take such a pill if it was considered safe and effective, clinical trials had been successful and the treatment was approved by the relevant government agencies overseeing drug roll-outs.

YANBU - Yes, I would take a pill that would reverse physical aging.
YABU - No, I would not take such a pill.

I don’t feel the need for full 20 plus years reversal, but at 44 my chest is a bit wrinkly now and I’m really worried about when I get a saggy neck. I think it will really affect my confidence.

I’m using a range of creams/gels/collagen/infra red mask etc to try and hold it off as much as possible.

I am probably fitter than in my 30s. But if it stopped my internal ageing, definitely

Oh that’s easily fixable. Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, apply nightly for a couple of weeks, then start using once or twice a week, it will tighten up. I’m in my fifties and mine is completely smooth, used to be quite wrinkly and lined.

It really doesn't.

Your opinion doesn't change mine but thanks for sharing.

If it could reverse my hearing loss and tinnitus, absolutely 100% yes.

IonianNerveGrip · 30/05/2026 11:20

Early 40s. Joints, reversal of pregnancy damage and hearing, yes. I don't want my early 20s face back though. The wrinkles aren't any worse than the zits I hadn't quite grown out of, but also I think I prefer the way I'm treated and seen now.

Oohanothername · 30/05/2026 11:20

No. That would be weird. We need to stop our obsession with youth, especially when it comes to women (it's constantly rammed down our throats so no wonder we are, TBF). I look better now than I did 10, 15 years ago because when I hit 40 I started looking after myself. I'm fitter and healthier than I ever have been and I'm finally learning to love my self and my body (still work in progress but I'm getting there).

If we could give women a pill that stopped them hating their own bodies, that would be much better 💕

Anything which would turn off the arthritis I will happily take.

mondaytosunday · 30/05/2026 11:46

id like to go back to when I was 39 please. Best shape of my life.

parkezvous · 30/05/2026 12:36

Yes!

Gardeningsideeffects · 30/05/2026 12:44

No! How exhausting to have to live through all those years again. Makes me feel tired.

BIossomtoes · 30/05/2026 15:58

You don’t have to relive those years, it wouldn’t be a Time Machine.

Dinggirl · 30/05/2026 16:44

You bet! I'd love not to have osteoarthritis in my knees and fingers! I could run again!
And yes...I'd love to look 30 again ...but with the hair I have today, not the dreadful perms I had then 😄

BauhausOfEliott · 30/05/2026 17:40

I’d fucking LOVE to take a pill that did that.

BoredZelda · 30/05/2026 17:41

Absolutely, but it’s nothing to do with how I look, I’d just like not to hurt.

Tillow4ever · 30/05/2026 17:58

If it would take me back to a pain free state I absolutely would! It could be life changing for me in that sense.

AmbitiousHalibut · 30/05/2026 18:00

Ha! How funny, I've literally just read a book about this! It's called Turn back time by Eleanor Tucker. The main character has a procedure that reverses her appearance by 20 years. It's a funny book but does make you think.

DrCoconut · 30/05/2026 18:00

Assuming there are no down sides 100%. I'd love to have the health and appearance that I had in my 20s! My 40s have been the most brutal decade of my life.

I read a book that I can't remember the name of now about a woman having a mid life crisis who finds herself back in her late teen/early 20s body at uni but with her 40 something mind so she has the chance to redo her life with hindsight and maturity. It was brilliant, I will have to try and find it again.

sunnydisaster · 30/05/2026 18:04

I’d take a pill to rid me of my chronic health conditions - not that bothered about looking a lot younger really. Body is still ok although face could do with an uplift.
