If you are over forty and could take a pill that would reverse physical aging by twenty or thirty years, would you take it?

My question is purely theoretical, for fun and out of curiosity as obviously such technologies don't currently exist (although with advancements in AI some of them seem to be on the horizon). I have been surprised by how many friends have eagerly jumped on the GLP1 drugs for weight loss and how successful they have been so this has made me ponder how people would respond to such an anti-aging pill.

If you are forty or over and a pill existed which you could take that would reverse physical aging over a number of months (both internally and on a vanity/skin level) by twenty to thirty years, so you looked like a younger version of yourself, would you take it?

I absolutely would take such a pill if it was considered safe and effective, clinical trials had been successful and the treatment was approved by the relevant government agencies overseeing drug roll-outs.

YANBU - Yes, I would take a pill that would reverse physical aging.
YABU - No, I would not take such a pill.

I honestly couldn’t care less about vanity but for health reasons and assuming the side effects were minor then yes, of course I would take it. I’m not in bad shape in my mid 50s, but I’m starting to creak a bit and I would love to be able to move as freely & see as well as I did when I was 25. Who wouldn’t?

ChocolateBiscuitsandaCuppa · 29/05/2026 22:41

In a heartbeat, for health reasons. I'd like to be the age I am now (46) in a much fitter, healthier state without the joint pain I get.

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 29/05/2026 22:42

I am late 40's. I don't want to look 20 or 30. I actually think I look better now.

DustyMaiden · 29/05/2026 22:10

But how is your eyesight?😊

definitely getting worse but I don’t count that as my face - don’t ask me to justify why, because I can’t really other than my eyeballs are more in my head than my face…

Rycbar · 29/05/2026 22:49

if I still haven’t had a baby by then, yes!!!

BIossomtoes · 29/05/2026 22:52

I most definitely would. Less to look younger, more to feel younger. The thought of having the same physical strength and energy I had 25 years ago without the aching joints would be bloody amazing.

longtompot · 29/05/2026 23:17

Hell yes @heikeemilia ! Not for vanity sake, but to stop these awful meno aches and pains, and to get some energy back. As long as it didn't involve regrowing organs that have been removed, as I don't want the heavy periods again thank you very much and a full hysterectomy has solved that.
That said, if it got rid of my saggy neck, then I'd love that little bit of vanity

NewGirlInTown · 29/05/2026 23:17

Like a shot!

Goldrill · 29/05/2026 23:27

I'm 51 and I'd take it to get back to early 40s at earliest. I liked being able to build muscle and hit a decent pace in the pool.
Not before that though. I like me as I am.

Strandas · 29/05/2026 23:33

So ignore the age bit - would you want a more flexible, mobile, body? Yes! I’m happy with the way my face looks, but I’d love a body that doesn’t creak!

theleafandnotthetree · 29/05/2026 23:41

No, not for me. I am 52 and in reasonable shape, pretty healthy and have stayed steadily so throughout my adult life. Maybe I'd feel differently if I had major health issues. I like my face, it's mine, doesnt scare the horses and is a result of the life I have lived. To go back would feek like a betrayal or something of my life experiences. There is a season for everything and I don't know about messing with that.

HollyHolly123 · 30/05/2026 00:07

If I can keep the same life but look 20 years younger then hell yeah. And I’d wear all the stuff I thought I was too fat for ( I wasn’t) or couldn’t afford then

CastleCrasher · 30/05/2026 00:10

Yes!! The looks would be nice, but probably wouldn't be that bothered about that. But reversing the effects of age and childbirth on my body (while keeping the dc)? sign me up!

SillydizzyGirl · 30/05/2026 00:16

I'm not sure tbh. Even if physically both internally and externally you de-aged you would still be 40+ or whatever age you started from as you would still have existed for that time. I can only imagine that fact in itself would have some unforseen impact and even if I looked and felt 20 again it would feel super creepy being with younger folk or having a relationship

DirtyBird · 30/05/2026 01:29

Definitely yes.

ElenOfTheWays · 30/05/2026 01:42

Yes. The last ten years have destroyed my health. I'd love to go back to my 30s physically. I don't see how I would be getting my periods back though. If I'm out of eggs, I'm out right? They won't magically reappear I suppose. I'm ok with that. I'd also be ok if they restarted though. It'd be a small price to pay for what I'd get in return.

YourPoliteTurtle · 30/05/2026 02:21

Without a second of hesitation, absolutely!

There's nothing positive that age has brought to my body. Age is not supposed to improve you 😂

ItsNotMeEither · 30/05/2026 04:55

I'm in my 60s and honestly in the best shape I've been in years. It's not even looks that worry me that much, but just the inevitable signs of aging. My body can't move the way it used to. I'm finally retired and have some time, but I physically can't kneel down and that hampers a lot of things. If I could get back a physically capable body, I'd take it, minus any sign of periods though please.

It really doesn't.

EdinaTheConfessor · 30/05/2026 07:09

Yes absolutely if it also added 20 years to my life expectancy. I genuinely fear and dread aging and dying.

agggtm · 30/05/2026 07:11

Yes to reverse the arthritis and back issues. Then I’d work out daily to help prevent it

PrimeSeason · 30/05/2026 07:14

Absolutely!

Notsosweetcaroline · 30/05/2026 07:20

It already exists they think. Trials are going on regarding mounjaro for this, to explain,

as we age, we get ill. From childhood on, colds, viruses, knocks, whatever, we drink alcohol, we eat unhealthy food. As much as we recover our cells always carry a marker of this, and that marker is inflammation.

that inflammation prevents our cells regenerating as they did when young, and this is ageing, in layman’s terms

they have found by reducing the inflammation, our cells regenerate as they once did, and they have found it means it stops ageing, slows it, or reverses it in people.

this is in our internal organs, not our skin. As thays collagen, as such trials are now under way to properly determine the anti ageing impact of the drugs, as in years to come it maybe prescribed for this in some form,

VeganSteakAndFries · 30/05/2026 07:47

Of course.
