If you are over forty and could take a pill that would reverse physical aging by twenty or thirty years, would you take it?

My question is purely theoretical, for fun and out of curiosity as obviously such technologies don't currently exist (although with advancements in AI some of them seem to be on the horizon). I have been surprised by how many friends have eagerly jumped on the GLP1 drugs for weight loss and how successful they have been so this has made me ponder how people would respond to such an anti-aging pill.

If you are forty or over and a pill existed which you could take that would reverse physical aging over a number of months (both internally and on a vanity/skin level) by twenty to thirty years, so you looked like a younger version of yourself, would you take it?

I absolutely would take such a pill if it was considered safe and effective, clinical trials had been successful and the treatment was approved by the relevant government agencies overseeing drug roll-outs.

YANBU - Yes, I would take a pill that would reverse physical aging.
YABU - No, I would not take such a pill.

I'm fine as I am.

ScaredButUnavoidable · 29/05/2026 18:38

Hell yes!!

Why on earth wouldn’t I want to look 25 years old again?!

Gwenhwyfar · 29/05/2026 18:39

Yes, but probably not in its first years. I'd want to know what the long term side effects were first.

weaselwords · 29/05/2026 18:39

In a heartbeat!

NarnianQueen · 29/05/2026 18:40

I’m 45 and I don’t feel the need… yet!
Having said that, I wouldn’t mind having my 22-year-old ability to eat whatever I wanted without putting on weight🤩

thistimelastweek · 29/05/2026 18:40

No.
I'm completely at peace with aging.

TooBigForMyBoots · 29/05/2026 18:41

In a shot! For the lack of joint pain rather than the aesthetic.

1984Winston · 29/05/2026 18:41

Yes, sick of every bit of me hurting and im only in my early 40's

TiredMagpie · 29/05/2026 18:41

Hell yeah! If I could have 25 yr old me’s skin and flat stomach, I would take that pill on a flash.

Stoicandhappy · 29/05/2026 18:41

Of course! It would take away my arthritis and take away my friends cancer.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 29/05/2026 18:42

Without out a doubt, as long as other people tested it first.

Brownbox3s · 29/05/2026 18:43

Omg , yes
i have always been fit, healthy, strong. and I have been shocked at how much my body has started to fall apart last few years, post 40. Esp post baby.

Needmorelego · 29/05/2026 18:43

I would love to be back to being a size 8-10 with a flat stomach and small boobs like I was in my 20s (currently 50ish and very fat with giant knockers).
But that's it.
I don't even remember what my skin was like back in my 20s. My hair tended to be more greasy - I much prefer it now.
Do I have to have my periods back? I really don't want them thanks 😂
Edit: weight loss pills etc already exist so technically I could do what I want already.

GingerBeverage · 29/05/2026 18:44

Wonka-Vite always ends badly. So no.

noworklifebalance · 29/05/2026 18:45

Late 40s and currently my face looks better than when I was in my 20s but my body is flabby - is there an option for a pill to sort my body out then but leave the face? 😆
No aches and pains yet.

TightlyLacedCorset · 29/05/2026 18:47

Oh most definitely. I have a couple chronic autoimmune conditions and perimenopause has made them both go hyper and they are kicking my ass. My quality of life is nothing to how it was when I was in my twenties. It's very, very poor now.

BUT I think your question doesn't have enough tension within it. It should be:

"If a pill existed which you could take that would reverse physical aging over a number of months (both internally and on a vanity/skin level) by twenty to thirty years, so you looked like a younger version of yourself, but it could potentially reduce your expected life span by 5-10 years would you take it?"

I think that would be really something to consider as there's no such thing in medicine as all gain and no side effects.

Glitchymn1 · 29/05/2026 18:47

Twenty yes, thirty no. I’d overthink this massively…. 😵‍💫🤣 can I go 9 years. I need to se ore DD in this deal lol

JillThePlantKiller · 29/05/2026 18:48

Yes if it was a magical or sci-fi pill. If it was actual pill, with unknown side effects, cost a lot of money, or required me to remember to take it every morning, I’d have to think about it.

user1471453601 · 29/05/2026 18:49

I'd be the first in line. Not because I want to look younger, but it would be my idea of heaven to ( for example) walk without using an aid to ensure I don't fall or to be able to get up and down steps easily.

the things I could go back to doing! Heaven.

thinking about it, if the side affect was to look 20 years older, but be able to do what I could 20 years ago, I'd take that pill and be happy about it.

pcba · 29/05/2026 18:50

Yes, not 40 yet but already dealing with health issues and joint issue, I’d happily take a pill that made me feel 20, the looks I don’t really care about, but a reverse of internal? Yes please!

Simonjt · 29/05/2026 18:51

I’m only 38, but my back, knees and shoulders say yes please.

Saladcreamormayo · 29/05/2026 18:51

hell yes id love my 25 year old body and face back rather than this peri menopausal, almost 50 year old achey jointed, meno belly, going grey, eye sight failing, memory shit, I could go on and on. who wouldn't want to stay physically 25 if they could. providing it was safe of course.

AccordingToWhom · 29/05/2026 18:51

Definitely. Farewell, menopause!

Miranda65 · 29/05/2026 18:52

No. What would be the point? And, God forbid we have to live this 20 years all over again - most people already live too long as it is.

That's actually a really good question about periods. I wonder what would happen but I suppose (I'm just a layperson) if a pill restored estrogen and progesterone levels, then yes, periods would return (along with fertility)!
