AIBU: The Gameshow

Idea for a gameshow:

We take 10 Mumsnetters as a panel of judges, then each round a different mumsnetter comes in front of the judges and presents a predicament, the judges then squabble over whether or not they are in the right/wrong, or being un/reasonable. They then each have to vote to decide the outcome.

There would be around 5 rounds per episode I would say, though not decided on this yet.

Other formatting of the show could be; we take 50 mumsnetters, the host (yours truly, of course) reads out the person's predicament (also displayed on a screen for each participant) and each person has to walk over to either the agree or disagree side, and then each side argues their point. I'm thinking this could be spicier if the person who's predicament it is, is also present.

I'm imagining the intro to the show being very Real Housewives-esque; 5 second clips of women arguing, cut to 3 second clip of someone storming off crying saying "I can't... I can't do this right now".

I'm also juggling ideas for the title of the show, I'm torn between:

Am I Being Unreasonable? Live (ITV)
MN: Jury Service (Court-room set up)
The Side-Eye Society
Live, Laugh, Litigation

Who's signing up to my horrible idea? Casting is pretty selective.

I don’t know it all feels a bit Jeremy Kyle. I think it would be a massive hit then something will go wrong and you will be cancelled effective immediately with only GB News willing to offer you a job going forward

This, but with a Graham Norton type chair where a handle is pulled and those that are being unreasonable are sent into some kind of manky slurry of food waste for thinking they weren't being unreasonable in the first place.

Do you know I was just thinking today if someone could do an anthology series based on different tales from MN. Obviously they’d have to flesh it out a bit but that’s a problem for the writers.

This just unlocked a long forgotten 90s memory! Anyone remember the TV show “Dear Dilemma” with Lisa I’Anson? It dramatised teen dilemmas, with a panel of celebs to opine on the right course of action. I loved it then, and I’m right behind you now OP!

Rather than 10 judges, I suggest an odd number, so that there will always be a clear verdict.

Idk I've never seen it but it sounds identical. This however, will be completely different as it is a MN version, which of course makes all the difference. No men allowed unfortunately

This is a good idea. At first I was imagining 100 participants in the latter format in OP, but it would likely just dedescend into chaos (better for TV though?).

I was also thinking each episode has new judges, though maybe keeping the same would allow for friendships and rivalries to form and allow for more drama. I'm also already imagining a gransnet spin off.

Firstly, I love it. My addition is, the judges have to vote one of themselves off each round if they are found to be too unreasonable - to mirror the report and MNHQ delete.

I also love the dramatisation idea. Each AIBU would be acted out and filmed in a super serious way, like a crime scene re-enactment. I already know 'screaming at the sistine chapel' will be my favourite. A slo mo of her screaming while bystanders cover their ears and fall to the floor

I have to say I'm disappointed there isn't more interest in auditions for the judges roles, I think I will just randomly select a group of MN users and send them a DM telling them they have to participate, or face jail time; akin to jury service.
