My psychiatrist is going on annual leave for 3 weeks so she’s prescribed me 140 zopiclone 7.5mg. If I took one every Day it would be 20 weeks worth of medication. Do I contact her secretary? The pharmacist dispensed it

How much do you usually get prescribed at a time?

Are you at risk of misusing it? If so, take some back to the pharmacy to dispose of. If not, keep it and don't get another prescription for a while. Would be worth informing your psychiatrist though.

It’s rare for that many to be dispensed because they are addictive. Probably is a prescribing error.

Do you get a monthly repeat supply, and how many is that, would it be say 28/30? In that case it looks very much like an error was made if you just take one a day usually. Contact psych secretery and make sure they know you have clocked the error. Ask them what to do with the excess.

No I’m not at risk, I was just confused!

Yes I would contact them as that sounds like a massive mistake, although I’m sure once it’s dispensed, they can’t use them again.

I was thinking that- really surprised the pharmacist didn’t question that (and probably should have!)
