AIBU to consider Botox for forehead lines at 40?

I HATE my forehead lines! I’m 40 and quite olive skinned and unfortunately enjoy the sun. I use SPF but I know it won’t change me getting lines! My dads are soooo bad! I am now wearing a hat and avoiding it but want to know anything that might help! I’m thinking Botox is my only option!

pic enclosed that will take a while to load probably.

It's better to start sooner or the lines will only deepen. If you want it and can afford it, I can't see why you wouldn't!

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 27/05/2026 15:20

Do it! I wish I had.

nam3c4ang3 · 27/05/2026 15:20

Do what want 🤷🏻‍♀️ no one can or should tell you what to do (within reason)

cleansun · 27/05/2026 16:04

Tretinoin and a really good skincare routine can help a fair bit. I’m 42 (my skin is a bit dehydrated today) and it’s made a big difference to my skin
first pic I was 34 and not using much skincare

Yes, I don't know why it lasts so long! I'm not complaining, though!

Amazing!! Ive just had my first ever session (a month now) hopefully it lasts that long!😂

I get Botox once a year and it makes a huge difference. You’d get a good result with those forehead lines.

Sartre · 28/05/2026 07:31

I’m 33 and I have two light lines on my forehead which have been bugging the hell out of me since the cropped up about a year or so ago. I desperately want Botox but then it’s making me introspectively wonder why I feel this way when it’s just a usual part of the ageing process… I have male colleagues who have lots and lots of lines and don’t seem remotely arsed about it.

Ooh what’s your skincare routine please and where do you get tretinoin? Your forehead looks how I wish mine did!

Because lines just look distinguished on men!! And more women do botox its becoming the norm so you sort of feel like you don't want to be left behind! Just think of it as a tool of wellbeing!😍

But actually 33 is young and I bet you look great!

EnglishmenDetestaSiesta · 28/05/2026 08:53

Do it! I had Botox at 37 for glabella lines and some forehead ones. It works wonders. My practitioner no longer does my forehead as there are no lines and I’m 53!

I only have it every 9 months or so.

Mischance · 28/05/2026 08:59

Honestly - and I am trying to put this kindly - you need to find something else to think about. I am quite a bit older than you now and if I had stopped and examined every bodily change as it happened and sought some "treatment" for what is entirely normal I could have spent a fortune and wasted a huge amount of time and emotional energy.

When we are 40, we are not meant to look how we did when we were 20, any more than a baby is meant to look like an old lady.

It is simply life - it is how it goes. Bodies change over time. Choosing to label those changes as pathological or negative can distract from living the life that you have - and it goes rather fast! Treasure every moment, smile and be kind and you will be beautiful!

Nuxeninny · 28/05/2026 09:02

Just do it, it's no big deal.

If you like it - keep it up. If you don't, it'll wear off.

checkcheckcheckchick · 28/05/2026 09:05

The great thing about Botox is you can give it a go, you’ll see what it’s like pretty quickly, and if you don’t like it just don’t get it topped up.

gatorlizzie · 28/05/2026 09:26

If you don't like those lines then Botox will get rid of them. It's your choice as simple as that. I think those lines are noticeable for age 40.

ThejoyofNC · 28/05/2026 09:30

Just do it, you won't regret it for a second.

What are your reservations?

Malasana · 28/05/2026 09:34

If it’s what you want, and you feel how you feel about your face, I’d say it’s entirely your choice.
For me I have no issue looking my age and anyone who doesn’t like it can sod off. I have no shits to give about the opinion of others as to how I look.
Only you know if you really want this and it you do you are not in the slightest bit unreasonable.
It’s time we stopped policing women’s appearance and that includes whether we’ve “let ourselves go” as the charming saying goes or whether we’re having work done.
Each to her own.

This is how I feel. I am a retired photographer and the most beautiful pic I ever took was a closeup portrait of a woman in her 90s unmade-up ... every line told a story ... and she smiled and radiated happiness!
