To have complained about neighbours music?

My neighbour ( 2 doors down) regularly plays loud music in her garden.
It is really loud and with speakers as well.

I was relaxing in the garden and all of a sudden her music comes on.

I complained via the neighbourhood group chat and was just met with nasty comments etc.

I don't mind people playing their music but surely have a bit of consideration for your neighbours?

AIBU to have complained?
This was in the afternoon.

You were being unreasonable to do it in a group chat. Why couldn't you message directly?

Play loud bagpipe music every time she does it.

I've come to the conclusion that people that do this sort of thing have already convinced themselves they're not doing anything wrong, when really they are just selfish.

I'm not sure I'd have gone to the group chat with it but I do sympathise OP, we've had this today and yesterday when I just want to take even half an hours peace in my garden with a book, not hear crap music on full blast.

Surely someone backed you up? You’re not saying they all agreed with her ?

I hate loud music in people's gardens it's antisocial

grasshoppa · 25/05/2026 17:50

Basically they were saying because it's hot weather people should be entitled to have music on and enjoy their gardens etc.

It was only a few others that backed me up and they too were pulled to pieces.
