To not understand my weight?

I seriously don't get it.
I'm trying soooooo hard to lose weight.
It's bloody hard, hard work trying to shift it.
The eating less is easy, I find calorie restriction easy. I'm naturally a healthy eater and my diet consists of vegetables, salad, brown rice, potatoes, poultry, fish, a little red meat, lots of mixed beans and lentils. No cheese, cream, milk, ice cream, as I'm dairy free. I don't eat any UPF or takeaways or convenience food; everything I eat is home cooked from scratch. Nothing is fried. I've got Coeliac disease which means I can't eat gluten so that cuts out bread, rolls, pastries, cakes, biscuits, etc. as I medically can't eat those foods. No crisps, chocolate or fizzy drinks, don't like that stuff. I don't drink alcohol, I'm teetotal.
Anyway despite eating healthily I am overweight and I am now tracking my calorie intake on a diet tracker.
What's hard is not the calorie restriction, I'm doing that easily. It's how hard it is to get any weight off. AND how much my weight is bouncing around.
So here's my gripe about my weight:
6 weeks ago: 12.6
5 weeks ago: 12.8
4 weeks ago: 13.2
3 weeks ago: 12.7
2 weeks ago: 12.8
1 week ago: 12.6
Today: 12.9
WTF?
Throughout these weeks I have eaten EXACTLY the same amount of calories each day, 1,100. All weighed, measured and recorded in to my weight loss app. Not one day have I exceeded this amount of calories. Literally not once.
5ft 7.
45 years old.
And bloody fed up.
BTW I've had a load of blood tests done (not for weight loss but for other reasons), tested my thyroid, diabetes, LH FSH hormones, kidneys, liver, cholesterol, lots of other stuff I can't remember, and every test was in the normal range.
Why is my weight bouncing around all over the place????

I’d say you aren’t eating enough. My sweet spot is 1600 calories - if I reduce to 1400 it makes no difference. On 1600 I lose about 2lbs a week 10lbs/month.
Have you worked out your TDEE? Find out and take no more than 500 off that. And double check your figures in terms of weighing/calories.

AnotherBretonTop · 25/05/2026 18:55

It absolutely is the PCOS.
Over the years I have done countless diets / plans etc and had bizarre results just like you.
I have now lost 3 stone on low dose Mounjaro, keeping up with some exercise.
It is the only thing that has consistently worked for me.

MummyWillow1 · 25/05/2026 19:01

Do you exercise? Just mentioning it because if you are doing loads of strength training you can be loosing fat but not weight as you are building muscle.

How do your clothes feel? Perhaps stop going off your weight and use measurements to track instead.

HeavyHeidi · 25/05/2026 19:05

OP said she doesn't lift weights so it won't be muscle.

Then if you don’t beleive your body is fueling the defecit with fat or muscle exactly what do you think is fueling it?

the biology is undisputed other than by you. Eat in a defecit your body burns fat or muscle to make up the difference, when you burn fat or muscle it no longer exists. As such your body weighs less.

so you’re repeatedly posting about eating in a defecit and maintaning weight, according to your personal belief system. So explain how it’s fueling itself. As the only other thing we can see going in is air.

Actually I posted once only about the theme of the thread and I don't care to explain myself because I don't give a crap. It's not me that has a weight problem and why would I want to elaborate to people who are so rude and try to shut me down. I literally don't care what you or op believes and I couldn't care less if you believe me or not. You clearly don't agree and that is your absolute right. The only reason I am posting is because I object to being told to shut up. Interesting though that a few people on this thread are telling op to eat more calories too 🤔

It's almost like misinformation spreads and becomes ingrained as truth which then causes problems. Like all the bullshit claims about vaccines causing autism. It's been thoroughly proven as a lie yet 30 years on people still believe it and kids are dying because of the misinformation spreads about by people who don't know what they're talking about.

That's why shutting misinformation down matters so much, because it harms people.

Well done you for both having access to the truth and being able to see into the future 👏👏👏 You must be the only person on the planet or perhaps you are God? And op is perfectly capable of taking on board or discounting any opinions expressed on this thread she doesn't need your protection. She already has a weight problem so she can try something new or keep doing what she's doing that isn't working - entirely up to her.

Yes, the new thing she can try is a calorie deficit! Which everyone knows is how weight loss occurs! Eating even more will only make her more overweight. Obviously.

And actually, lots of people do need protection from misinformation because they believe it to their own detriment either by being desperate enough to try it or being informed enough that they think it's true.

Ok so you’ve no idea how the body mysteriously fuels itself in a defecit to retain or gain weight. You kinda had to think that through before you started posting your belief system.

And it’s not about believing you. You’re positing stuff that defies human biology. It’d not some faith based thing. Biology is biology. If you eat in a defecit the body burns fat or muscle to make up that defecit. Which makes the body lighter. That’s a fact. There is no other way to fuel it. Irrelevant of your personal belief system that it mysteriously fuels the defecit another way.

christ don’t they teach this stuff in school. It’s biology 1.01.
