To move to near bury Manchester?

elephantjuiceq · Yesterday 15:51

Hi I'm just wondering if I would be made to move from a city to somewhere around bury?

I work from home and don't ever go into Manchester city.

There are places around rambottom etc.

I've got a toddler - would it still be similar in terms of sports and stuff? We tend to go to nature in the weekend.

Is there more of a community feel?

Who is forcing you to move to Bury?

We have family who live in Ramsbottom. It has a few nice shops on the main street and an OK park. It is also not that far from the moors etc for walks.

It's not as bad as many of the places round about it, but no way would I want to live there, personally. I think Bury is pretty grim, personally, as is Bolton. I suppose it depends on where you are now, though, and how it compares.

Bury and Bolton are like most places. Some areas are nice others not great.

I lived in Bury until a couple of years ago and really loved it there. Some areas are rougher than others but I was near a great park, not far from Burrs country park, and I was very happy there.

Ramsbotton was voted one of the best places in the UK to live! Bury has a lot going for it in terms of shopping facilities and motorway links. Like all towns there are good and bad parts. All in all not a bad place to live.

Greenmount is nice - I was a bit further over towards Bolton Road and could walk into town in 15 minutes. The steam train runs from the centre to Ramsbottom via Burrs. Greenmount is a bit further out, but not much.

Best think to do is go and wander round the area. I'm living in East Anglia now, but I'd go back to my old home in Bury in a shot if I could.

Bury shopping area near The Rock is very good a real good mix of high street shops, charity shops if you love a nose and the market fab for a wander round.

I'd avoid Bury but as others have said Ramsbottom, Tottington and Greenmount are nice. Rossendale is really variable, Helmshore is decent and there's a good grammar school if that's relevant.
