poor ds just came in pointing to his finger; I looked at it and said "Oooh it's a big splinter!" So I hold ds tight while dh proceeds to sctratch and squeeze the bugger out.....

After an agonising 5 mins of this for ds, we realised it was actually an old scratch and not a splinter . At this point dh had successfully broken the skin and was digging the imaginary splinter out with his fingernail with poor little ds howling away.

He's had big cuddles but we can't help giggling. Yes yes I know I'm EVIL!!

It is a little, tiny bit funny from a distance. Poor wee DS though.

You probably did have to be there. I assure you I am not a heartless cow, just find my own silly mistake amusing

Sorry...that's funny. I'd have laughed.

DD came home with a poorly hand yesterday. Nanny, who was looking after her, had made a HUGE fuss and given her calpol and a plaster. When said plaster was removed, I giggled and said it was a weeny little scrape..clearly nanny was a bit mad making so much fuss.

DD said, mommy...if you'd been there when I'd done it, you'd have hugged me and hugged me (which I would...but I'd have probably laughed at the same time) and you'd have said 'I bet that didn't tickle'. My daughter knows me so well!

Have I missed summink here?

The occasional comedy fall is funny.

Hurting your child I fail to find amusing.

getmeout, it's not as if the OP was hurting their child on purpose. They genuinely believed that they were hurting him out of necessity to make things better. And the laughter was not for his pain- which I am sure they dealt with sympathetically- but for their silly mistake.

I wasn't suggesting they hurt him on purpose.

I just fail to chuckle at their mistake (I know we have all done it). I am not a poker face (honest-lol).
