To ask you to explain boots click and collect at the airport to me like I’m 5

Every single boots click and collect order I’ve done has been in a box

are you expected to take a bag with you? Do they give you a carrier bag? I can’t imagine that trying to get on a plane with a big boots bag would go down well 😂

I take the items out of the box and put them in my hand luggage and put the box in the recycling bin.

Bring a carrier bag and put them into that. Or better still get a carrier bag from Boots even if you have to pay a few pennies for it (I'm not sure if you can, but hey). Then any purchases made airside are not counted as weight or volume for boarding the aircraft.

I’ve seen that apparently they let you take an extra bag on the plane along with your two bags?

Yes you can. Otherwise there'd be no point to duty free and other shops, as no one would buy anything to take with them!

Yeah I’ve heard this, I’m looking at getting the bulk of my toiletries through this click and collect

When I was last at the airport they stood at the gate making people pack the purchases into their hand luggage!

I think that's really good idea, particularly if you're 'hand luggage only.' Just be aware that Boots at Manchester Terminal 2 wasn't doing click and collect last time I was there (January 2026). Having said that, there's no reason why you couldn't buy your toiletries 'normally' at that branch of Boots, even if you can't do click and collect

That's duty free though isn't it? Boots is just shopping.

Did see a guy carrying a massive lego set on an easy jet flight last month though so who knows?!

@coneyislandoldspot Last year I was at Liverpool Airport trying to find Boots and was told they are no longer at any of the Airports anymore! Gutted as I like to browse before getting on the plane. I would double check though. I'm sure it's WHSmith only.

There are Boots at most airports but yes, the Liverpool one has closed. It depends on your airline as to whether it all needs to fit in your hand luggage. Who are you flying with?

Morocca · 22/05/2026 11:26

Although it sounds like you’re flying from Bristol in which case you can take an additional bag of airport shopping on every airline.

EasyJet

I’ll be taking a pretty much empty cabin bag anyway, and it’ll just be suncream etc

If it’s from Bristol then it doesn’t matter. Every airline allows you a second bag.

I have two bags purchased to take on board anyway

Never had an issue before but because I’m travelling solo I do get nervous 🤣
