AIBU to feel dismayed by US plans for possible action in Cuba

To be dismayed that the USA is now preparing the invasion of Cuba, which is being cited as a threat to its national security?

Why, how is it that the people and Congress are just allowing the government to keep on warmongering and not recognise other countries' sovereignty?

Just been listening to this on the Today programme. It's shocking isn't it. In the last few months he's said he wants Canada and Greenland, attacked Venezuela and Iran and now he's talking about Cuba. And they mentioned that since the Venezuela action Cuba hasn't had a source of oil so things are getting increasingly desperate on the island. Shocking.

I couldn’t agree more. The general lack of condemnation from governments is also deeply disturbing. The US is led by a man who is openly corrupt, breaks international law and has no concern for democracy. sovereignty or human rights.

Of course, the US has been oppressing Cuba for decades - what they are doing now is completely abhorrent. They’re deliberately starving everyday Cubans due to the blockade - people cannot access food, power outages are impacting medical services, tourism has virtually stopped and the economy is crippled.

Yet more people dying and being oppressed thanks to a truly odious man. It’s a horrible world right now tbh and it makes me incredibly sad.

Sounds like he’s also basically threatening to deport Cuban Americans?? Says they want to go back to Cuba so he will help them go back? Unless he means if he topples the Cuban leaders then they can go back voluntarily 🤷‍♀️

Agreed, it’s just horrific. And there seems to be nothing we can do about it.

Every time I see Trump I think of Donald Sutherland playing the president in the Hunger Games. I feel like that dystopia is aspirational for this administration.

Bay of Pigs.
He can't win in Iran so is trying a distraction in Cuba.
Most Republican voters are too stupid to notice.
It will get really interesting when the boys start coming home in body bags.

The people who really should be worried are the Taiwanese. If Trump is dissipating US military strength in this way, Beijing can walk in with no consequences.

Has anyone told Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz they're going to be involved in (further) destroying their own heritage?
