AIBU to consider changing jobs after ten years and maternity leave?

To consider a job change after 10 years?

what it says on the tin really. Since
coming back from mat leave I’ve gone to 4 days a week because of childcare, and picked up a new role on top of my old one. Not getting paid any more for that.

classic corporate story, not enough people to get the work done, you reach out for help and get met with silence or ‘sorry we can’t’ and I often find myself working late because I value my professional standards.

it’s a scary thought to consider changing jobs - I have massive imposter syndrome and I think I am missing a few key skills which would be needed. But where I am now I get a lot of flexibility day to day because of relationships I’ve built. I started my career at this company, but lots of the people I used to work with have left and now I feel like I’m swimming against the current to just get basic stuff done.

anyone switched jobs and felt significantly better for it?

wwyd?

I wasn't sure how to vote, but I did this and it was the best move career wise for me. Have had a few mixed job moves since then, but moving to an organisation that valued me was great.

I had been working for the same employer for 14 years when I went on maternity leave. Came back for 9 months or so and decided it was time for a change. It was definitely weird to leave when it had been the only job I’d ever had but it was the right decision for me for sure.
