Anyone else get one sore spot in a breast before periods?

Has anyone else had very localised breast pain in one spot before their period?

I’m due on in about 10 days and I always get hormonal symptoms like bloating, breast tenderness and PMDD-type mood symptoms, but this month (and last month) I’ve got one particular sore spot in one breast rather than general tenderness all over. It feels cyclical because it seems worse before my period, but because it’s only in one area I’m overthinking it a bit.
Last month it disappeared once my period arrived, but since I’m in luteal it’s back again. I can pinpoint exactly where it is too.

There’s no obvious redness or heat. I’ve also had some normal pre-period breast soreness at the same time. But the specific spot is more painful.

Just wondering if anyone else gets breast pain that’s hormonal but only in one specific spot? Did it turn out to be normal cyclical breast changes/cysts etc?

I’m considering trying evening primrose oil as well if anyone’s found that helpful.

Not on my boobs no but yes on my face and fanny of all places, sometimes i get boils.

MyGirlJ · 21/05/2026 16:49

I do, and mine turned into a lump. Went to GP and was referred on 2 week pathway to the breast clinic. Luckily it's just a breast cyst, and the pain is cyclical because my hormones make it flare up at specific times of the month.

Yes I used to get this just before my period. Finally diagnosed by a doctor who said it was a virus lodged in my chest wall muscle, and probably caused by the Hong Kong Flu a few years earlier! It was activated by the change in hormones while ovulating. (This change also caused what I thought was ibs but was just hormones affecting gut bacteria).

Get it checked out OP. I ignored breast pain and it turned out to be cancer.

@Mincepiesagain would pain from cancer go away after period then come back during luteal ?

I am experiencing the exact same at the moment. I went to the GP like the poster above and have my ultrasound at the breast clinic tomorrow afternoon. I can update you on how it goes, but it would definitely be worthwhile having your own check just to get that reassurance. I found myself googling it for a month or two and eventually thought I may as well just go to the doctor and find out for certain.

A virus lodged in your chest wall....there's one born every minute 😋

Yes me! Started after I finished breastfeeding my youngest. I saw a gp but as it was cyclical they were unbothered. 6 years on and I’m currently on the pill and no longer have the pain, so I’m sure it was hormones.

No, never had breast pain with periods and never a pin point sore part. Last 40's now.

Have you had this investigated OP?

Limpbiscuits · 21/05/2026 20:34

Yes, I’m 40 and I have had this as long as I can remember.

a sore/tender part which only flares up with hormones - in my right breast but close to my armpit on the side. Every month without fail.

10kstepsaday · 21/05/2026 20:56

Yes I also get this on my right side, the week before I'm due on but not always. It's kind of like where the underwire in bra might push out (near armpit). I have thought about getting it checked but it is always linked to my period.
